About comment and feedback notifications

Who can use this: Any team member

Available on: Any Gong plan

Ideal for: Any team member

Gong sends a notification when someone tags you in a call comment. Choose in your notification settings whether to also get them by email, Slack, or Teams. You can also follow a call to be notified about every new comment on it. Email notifications for comments are grouped over 30 minutes, and Coaching inbox and Coaching metrics update once a day.

When you get notified

You receive a notification when one of the following happens.

  • Someone tags you in a comment on a call you can access.

  • Someone replies to a comment you posted.

  • Someone replies in a comment thread you took part in.

  • Someone comments on a call you are following.

You follow a call automatically when you participated in it, when you are on its participants list (whether you attended or not), when someone tags you in a comment on it, or when you take part in a comment thread on it. You can also follow a call yourself.

Notifications appear in the Collaboration section on your home page and, depending on your settings and your company's integrations, by email, Slack, or Teams.

To follow a call:

  1. Open the call page.

  2. In the Comments panel, click the Notify me about new comments toggle at the bottom of the panel to enable it.

When you do not get notified

Some actions that look like tags do not trigger notifications.

  • Tagging yourself in a comment does not send you a notification.

  • A comment set to private (Only me) does not notify anyone else, even if it includes a tag.

  • A comment shared with specific people does not notify you unless you are tagged in it.

  • You do not receive notifications for comments you are not permitted to see, such as comments on calls you do not have access to.

Notification timing and delivery

Gong groups email notifications for comments that arrive on the same call within 30 minutes into a single email instead of sending each one separately.

If your admin has connected a Slack workspace to Gong, Gong can send comment notifications to Slack. You can reply in the Slack thread and the reply syncs back to Gong. Learn more about replying to a comment.

To turn on email, Slack, or Teams notifications for comments:

  1. In Gong, click your profile avatar at the top right, and select My notifications.

  2. Find Comments, tags, and replies.

  3. Select the delivery channels you want: Email, Slack, or Teams. The channels you see depend on your company's integrations.

Notifications and Coaching inbox

A notification confirms that a coaching event happened. It does not confirm that the event has appeared in Coaching inbox or Coaching metrics yet.

Coaching inbox updates once a day. New activity can take up to 24 hours to appear, even when the notification arrived immediately. If activity is still missing after 24 hours, the call may not meet the eligibility conditions for Coaching inbox: It needs to be external, associated with an account or opportunity, and hosted by a direct report.
