Ask questions across multiple calls

Who can use this: Any team member

Available on: Gong Foundation

Ideal for: Sales rep, Sales manager

Ask Gong Assistant about patterns, trends, or specific topics across a set of calls instead of reviewing each call separately. Gong Assistant analyzes the calls in the context you choose, and its answers are grounded in what was said in those conversations. You pick the context by where you start: Search, the Gong Assistant page, or your library. To learn more about the other places you can start, see Where you can use Gong Assistant.

Start from Search to ask about a specific set of filtered calls. Gong Assistant analyzes the calls in your current search results.

To ask a question from Search:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Conversations, and select Search.

  2. Apply filters to narrow the calls.

  3. Click Assistant.

  4. Type your question in the prompt box.

  5. Click the Arrow icon to send your message.

Tip:

To run an agent on the same calls, click Ask an agent below the prompt box. Learn more about running agents in Gong Assistant.

Note:

Each answer is tied to the filters that were active when you asked. When you change the filters, new questions use the updated results, and earlier answers stay tied to the earlier results.

For most questions, you can describe the context in plain language. To filter by CRM fields or specific phrases, set the filters in Search before you ask. Learn more about searching for calls and refining questions with natural language or filters.

Ask from the Gong Assistant page

Use the Gong Assistant page to combine calls from different places or saved collections. The page starts without preset context, so you choose the calls, folders, or streams that Gong Assistant analyzes. To learn more about choosing context, see Add calls, folders, and streams to Gong Assistant.

To ask a question from the Gong Assistant page:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Assistant.

  2. (Optional) In the prompt box, click the Add context icon (+), and choose what to add:

    • Calls: In the Filter editor window, set up a filter for the calls you want, and click Save to add the calls.

    • Folders and streams: Select a folder or stream that contains the calls you want.

  3. Type your question in the prompt box.

  4. Click the Arrow icon to send your message.

Ask from your library

Your library is the place to ask about a curated collection of calls, such as a folder, subfolder, stream, or the full library. Gong Assistant uses only the calls you can access in the library you select.

To ask a question from your library:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Conversations, and select a library:

    • Your library: Your own folders and streams, along with those shared with you

    • Company library: Folders available across your company

  2. (Optional) Select a folder, subfolder, or stream.

  3. Click Assistant.

  4. Type your question in the prompt box, or select a suggested prompt:

    • Analyze key insights

    • Summarize best practices

    • Surface customer objections

    • Create an onboarding guide

  5. Click the Arrow icon to send your message.

Note:

Moving between folders and streams in the same library keeps your conversation open and updates the context automatically. Switching between Your library and Company library starts a new chat.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start from Search and when should I start from the Gong Assistant page?

Search uses the calls in your active search results as context, so start from Search for a specific filtered set of calls. On the Gong Assistant page, you choose the calls, folders, or streams yourself, so start from the Gong Assistant page to combine calls from different places or saved collections.

Can I ask follow-up questions?

Yes. Gong Assistant keeps the context and your previous questions while the chat stays open. To start fresh, click the New chat icon at the top right of the chat.

Why did my answer include calls I did not expect?

Gong Assistant uses the context that was active when you asked your question. To check what it used:

  • From Search, review your filters.

  • From the Gong Assistant page, review the calls, folders, or streams you added.

Why is Gong Assistant not available on the Search page?

Gong Assistant requires a Gong Foundation seat. Your Gong admin can check whether you have one.
