Call briefs give you an AI-generated summary of a recorded call, including a recap, key points, and next steps. The default brief type is Highlights. Your admin or team members may have set up additional types for specific call scenarios.
View the brief
Open the Briefs tab to read the summary for this call. Switch types to focus on a different aspect of the conversation, or copy the brief to use elsewhere.
To view and copy a brief:
Open the call.
The Briefs tab will be open by default in the left panel.
View the summary, key points, and next steps.
(Optional) Click Change brief type and select a different brief.
(Optional) Click Copy all to copy the full brief to your clipboard.
Note: The brief is generated from the call transcript. If it looks incomplete or inaccurate, select Regenerate AI Content from the More actions icon in the top right of the page. Learn more about troubleshooting call summaries and briefs.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my brief missing or incomplete?
The brief is generated from the call transcript. If the transcript is incomplete or was transcribed in the wrong language, the brief may be missing or inaccurate. Retranscribe the call first using Transcribe in correct language from the More actions icon in the top right of the page, then select Regenerate AI Content to rebuild the brief. What brief types are available in the Change brief type dropdown?
The dropdown shows all brief types available to you, including Gong's built-in types (labeled "By Gong") and any custom types created by your team or your admin.
What does the Highlights brief include?
Highlights is Gong's default brief type. It includes a Recap (a paragraph summary of the conversation), Key points (the main takeaways), and Next steps (the actions identified from the call).
