Revenue analytics: Adapting to changes

The launch of revenue analytics includes several changes for existing Forecast users (prior to October 2024), as detailed below.

New permissions

Permission to manage revenue analytics

Revenue analytics admins’ permission profiles must include Manage revenue analytics (Company settings > Permission profiles > Business settings), so they’re able to:

Note:

To make the transition smoother, we automatically checked this permission in all permission profiles that currently have “Manage forecast board and upload targets” checked.

Permission to view dashboards

  • To view published dashboards, user permission profiles must include Dashboards (Company settings > Permission profiles > Pages).

Existing dashboard migration

What’s changed

  • We’ve rearranged your view and migrated your existing dashboards from Deals > Analytics to Deals > Dashboards.

  • For each migrated dashboard, we kept one forecast rollup widget and removed the next period one.

  • The Analytics page still displays your familiar report pages: Trends, Changes, Forecast accuracy, Pacing, Win/Loss and Drivers.

Do I need to do anything

  • With full control over your dashboards, you may want to review the migrated ones and modify them according to your changing business needs.

  • You can recreate the next period forecast rollup widget by adding a new widget to your dashboard.

  • If you have links pointing at the old dashboards, you’ll need to redirect them to their new URLs under Dashboards.

New dashboards

What’s changed

Up until now, we generated dashboards for each of your lines of business. Moving forward, revenue analytics admins will own dashboards, build, and maintain them.

Do I need to do anything

  • For new lines of business, you can start building dashboards, starting from scratch or generating from one of our templates.

  • New dashboards are created in draft mode and are only visible to revenue analytics admins until published. Once published, they’re visible to users with a forecast seat and permission to view dashboards.

Forecast reports

Performance report

What’s changed

The Performance report was renamed to Accuracy.

Changes report

What’s changed

  • We’ve redesigned the changes report to waterfall, showing pre-change and post-change amounts, with clear visual representations of both positive and negative shifts in your pipeline.

  • You can click the pre-changes and post-changes bars to drill into the deals behind the changes, giving you a deeper understanding of how and why your pipeline moved.

Do I need to do anything

No.

Forecast target management

What’s changed

  • Forecast board targets are now managed centrally in a new area available through Company settings > Revenue analytics > Targets.

  • Existing forecast board targets are migrated to the new management area and can be found under the name of their equivalent line of business.

  • Targets edited in the board itself are still governed by the same permission, and changes made to individual targets within a board are automatically applied to the migrated targets in the new management area.

  • The change is seamless for forecast board viewers.

Do I need to do anything

Moving forward, when creating a new line of business, you’ll apply targets from a dedicated area in the forecast board settings. Learn how to manage them here.
