Article summary

Who can use it: Tech admins

Where to find it: Company settings > Permission profiles

A permission profile is a set of permissions that can be assigned to every Gong user to define what they can see and do in Gong. If using workspaces, you can assign a different profile per workspace. Note that the profile does not affect data that Gong gathers from your conversations such as reports and warnings.

Create multiple profiles to customize permissions to assign to different types of user in your company. Assign a permission profile when setting people up to use Gong.

Out-of-the-box profiles can be edited, duplicated, and deleted (you can't delete if the profile is assigned). To learn more about what actions in Gong are governed by profiles and how to set them up, see Set up a permission profile.

Out-of-the-box profiles

The following permission profiles are available to help you get started. See the table below to compare capabilities per profile.

  • Business admin: A profile intended for people who need to manage the business settings in Gong. You may want to assign this profile to Sales & CS Enablement or RevOps people

  • Standard team member: This profile is intended for salespeople and their managers. It enables them to get the most out of Gong, without giving them the power to define business settings.

  • Collaborator: This profile is intended for people who don't need to leverage the full power of Gong.

  • If you have Gong Forecast, you'll also have these out-of-the-box permission profiles for forecasting:

    • Business Admin - Forecast: Gives the same permissions as the regular Business Admin profile, and also allows the Forecast admin to access the Forecast page and manage forecast boards.

    • Standard Team Member - Forecast: Gives the same permissions as the regular Standard Team Member profile, and also gives access to the Deals > Forecast page.

Another role in Gong is the technical administrator. This role is not set in the permission profile area, but via the Team members page. Learn more

This table shows a selection of the main permissions in each default profile. Use these settings as a guide for setting up your own profiles. The full list is available here.
