Ideal for: RevOps
Revenue analytics dashboards serve any type of business analysis and can include a variety of analysis types.
Before building a new dashboard, either by starting from scratch or using a template, we recommend:
Planning: Identify the target audience for the dashboard, determine when and how frequently they'll use it, and clarify the key business questions it should address and their priority.
Exploring: Review existing dashboards to ensure a similar one doesn’t already exist.
Prebuilding: Set up your metrics and targets.
Build a dashboard from scratch
Note:
You must have permission to manage revenue analytics in your permission profile. Contact your tech admin to add permissions to you permission profile.
To build your own custom dashboard:
From the left sidebar, click Dashboards
Click + New dashboard and select Build your own.
Give your dashboard a Name and Description to help others understand its purpose.
Choose a date filter type the dashboard can be filtered by:
No filter: Click the Enable date range selection toggle to disable the date filter. Use this when filtering by dates is not relevant for that specific dashboard.
Choose a filter: Click the Period type dropdown and select an option:
Fiscal calendar: Enables filtering the dashboard by fiscal periods based on your company’s fiscal calendar.
Rolling range: Enables filtering the dashboard using relative date ranges.
Both - Fiscal primary, rolling secondary: Enables filtering by both period types, with the initial filter being the fiscal calendar.
Both - Rolling primary, fiscal secondary: Enables filtering by both period types, with the initial filter being the rolling date range.
Start adding widgets to the dashboard. Our analysis types selection includes custom widgets (custom chart, KPI widget, performance widget), and widgets related to deals and forecast (deals widget, forecast rollup widget, trends widget, and changes widget).
Use a template
To generate a dashboard from a template:
Click +New dashboard > Generate from template. Each of the offered dashboard templates answers a broad business question. Each of the widgets generated by the selected template answers a more granular business question related to the parent business question.
Example
Performance review answers the question “how did the team perform recently?”, while the widgets generated by the template answer the following questions:
Widget name | Type | Question answered |
|---|---|---|
Booking attainment | KPI widget | What’s the amount of bookings made in the selected period, and how is it progressing towards its target? |
Overall win rate | KPI widget | What’s the percentage of closed-won deals out of all closed deals (by deal amount)? |
Total pipeline created | KPI widget | What’s the total amount of deals created in the selected period? |
ASP | KPI widget | What’s the average amount of deals won in the selected period? |
Team performance | Performance widget | How did the team perform during the selected period? |
Booking performance over time by team | Custom chart | What was the team’s booking performance in the last 4 quarters? |
Pipeline created over time by type | Custom chart | How much pipeline was created in the last 4 quarters (by type)? |
Win rate performance over time by team | Custom chart | What’s the percentage of closed-won deals out of all closed deals over the last 4 quarters? |
ASP performance over time by type | Custom chart | What’s the average sales price of closed-won deals over the last 4 quarters? |
Loss reasons | Custom chart | What amount was lost in the selected period (by reason)? |
Highest value won deals | Deals widget | What are the highest value deals won in the selected period? |
Highest value lost deals | Deals widget | What are the highest value deals lost in the selected period? |
Next quarter's pipeline by close date and stage | Custom Chart | What does next quarter’s open pipeline look like (by close week and current stage)? |
Select the template and click Let’s go.
After selecting your template, you’ll be walked through a short process of selecting metrics, targets, CRM fields, and lines of business required to generate the selected dashboard. If they are not set yet, set them and go back to generating the dashboard. For example, if you’re missing a metric, click Manage metrics from the metric selection dropdown, create your metric, and proceed.
After selecting these, click Generate dashboard.
Best practices
To get the most out of your dashboards, we recommend:
Keeping it simple
You can include as many widgets as you like, but we recommend keeping it simple with a minimal selection that viewers can easily digest.
Aligning team and date selection methods
When you start adding your widgets to dashboards, you can set the widget team member and date fields to be dynamic and respond to whatever is selected in the dashboard, or set them to fixed values.
We recommend using the same team and date selection method across all widgets in a dashboard. It’s best if all widgets are aligned, so viewers know what to expect when they change the date and team selection on the dashboard level.
Using a date selection method that supports the widgets in the dashboard
Not all widgets support all date selection methods. For example, Forecast widgets and Target attainment widgets don't support Rolling range date pickers.
Before selecting a dashboard date picker, verify that it supports all the widgets you plan to include in the dashboard. This helps ensure all widgets display data as expected. If you choose a combined date picker, you will only be able to filter the widget by fiscal calendar dates.
