Create and manage streams

Save time when searching for relevant calls, and get notified when new calls come in, with streams. Streams automatically collect calls as they happen, according to criteria that you set. Filter calls according to words, trackers, call titles, and more. Find out when new calls are collected in a stream via automatic notifications via email or Slack. For more about streams, see this.

Create a stream

1. Go to Conversations > Your Library or Conversations > Company Library.

2. Click +NEW at the top of the panel and choose Stream, or click + beside a folder name and choose Stream.

   

   The ability to create streams is set in the permissions profile. If you don't see it and think you should, contact your Gong admin.

3. Give the stream a name.

4. Add filters to set which calls will automatically populate this stream. For more info about call filters, see this.

5. Select the type of stream:

   • Standard All calls are shown to everyone viewing the stream. This is preferred when building a stream in the company library, so that everyone visiting the library can see all of the calls. This is also required if you want to enable Slack notifications for the stream.

   • Personalized Each person who views the stream only sees the calls owned by them or their team

6. Share the stream with others and subscribe them to stream notifications.

   You are automatically subscribed to the streams you create. To enable other people to access the stream, and get notified when new calls are collected in it, share the stream with them and then set the notification cadence.

   • Add email subscribers: Click +Share and select the team or team member you want to receive notifications. Once they’ve been added, toggle on Subscribe and set the notification cadence: immediately, daily, or weekly. Weekly notifications are sent on Fridays.

7. Enable Slack notifications. Some streams allow for Slack notifications too. These notifications come with spotlight's call brief, giving recipients a quick view into what went on in the call. To add Slack notifications, select a Slack channel. If it is a private Slack channel, make sure Gong is invited to the channel.

   In order for Slack notifications to be possible:

   • Your org must be connected to Slack

   • The stream must be in the company library (not your library)

   • The stream must be standard (not personalized)

8. Save the stream.

Note: Just because someone sees a call in a stream doesn’t mean they have access to it. Calls that are marked private remain private, even if they are collected in a stream. They will be visible to people who have access to the stream, but they won't be accessible.

Manage a stream

Manage streams from the that appears when you hover the stream name. From here, you can edit, rename, move, and copy the stream. Depending on where the stream is located and your permissions, you may also be able to archive, delete, or download a usage report from here.

Edit a stream

1. Go to Conversations > My Library and locate the stream you want to edit. Click and select Edit.

2. Edit the stream and click Save.

Rename a stream

To rename a stream, click beside the stream name and select Rename. You can also rename the stream from the main stream page.

Move a stream

To move a stream, click beside the stream name and click Move. In the dialog that opens, choose where you want to move the stream, and then click Move.

• From your library to the company library: Everyone in the company will have access to the stream.

• From the company library to your library: If the stream had subscribers, those subscribes will stop receiving notifications for the stream.

Copy a stream

To copy a stream to a different location, click  beside the stream name and select Copy. In the dialog that opens, choose where you want to place the copied stream, and click Copy.

Give the copied stream a new name, change any other settings that you like, and click Save.

Remove a stream

Removing streams from your library doesn't affect the calls that were collected in them. You can delete streams from your library, and archive streams in the company library.

• Your library: To remove a stream from your library, click and select Delete. In the confirmation message, we'll let you know if the stream has been shared with others.

• Company library: To remove a stream from the company library, click and select Archive. The stream is archived (not deleted) and can be restored later by a company business admin.
