Who can use this: Any team member

Available on: Gong Foundation

Gong Assistant can help you answer questions, analyze information, create documents, build Gong assets, and automate repeatable workflows.

Ask questions in Gong Assistant

Ask Gong Assistant to answer a question about a call, a set of search results, or a broader workspace.

To ask a question:

  1. Open Gong Assistant from a call page, Search, or the Gong Assistant page.

  2. Enter your question, or choose a suggested prompt if one is available.

  3. Review the response. On a call, responses can include citations to the source material.

Focus Gong Assistant on specific information

Gong Assistant can often determine which conversations to analyze based on how you phrase your question. For example, it can understand references to timeframes, accounts, and people when you include them directly in your question.

When you need more precise control over the information Gong Assistant uses, add context. Adding context lets you explicitly choose the calls, folders, streams, or files Gong Assistant should use when answering questions or creating content.

To focus Gong Assistant on specific information:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Assistant and select Add context.

  2. Select the data you want Gong Assistant to use:

    • Calls: Set up a filter so that Gong Assistant uses the relevant calls to answer questions or create content. You can also word your question in a way that filters the calls that are analyzed. See Refine questions with natural language or filters to see when you can filter with natural language and when it’s better to set a filter.

    • Folders and streams: Select a folder or stream which contains the calls the Assistant should use to answer questions or create content

  3. Ask your question.

Adding context helps Gong Assistant focus on the information most relevant to your question.

Upload files to Gong Assistant

Upload files when you want Gong Assistant to work with information that does not originate from Gong conversations, or when you want it to follow a specific template or example. Uploaded files can be used alongside Gong data when answering questions, analyzing information, or generating content.

To upload files:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Assistant.

  2. Select Add context and then select Upload files.

  3. Upload the files you want Gong Assistant to use.

  4. Ask your question or request. Gong Assistant uses the uploaded files together with the available Gong context.

PDF, MD, TXT, and CSV files are supported. A maximum of 10 files of up to 20 MB per file can be uploaded per message.

Create documents and Gong assets

Gong Assistant can create documents and Gong assets based on the conversations and other information it has access to. Use documents when you want Gong Assistant to generate content, and Gong assets when you want it to create reusable items such as scorecards.training materials, battlecards, FAQs, and talk tracks, or Gong assets such as scorecards, based on your Gong data.

Note:

You can ask Gong Assistant to create a document or asset from the call page and the search page. The document or asset is opened in the main Gong Assistant page.

To create a document or Gong asset:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Assistant.

  2. Click Create to create a document based on the relevant data.

  3. Click Build to create a Gong asset such as a scorecard and enter the details of what you want to create.

    Tip:

You can also describe what you want to create directly in your request. Gong Assistant can create the appropriate document or asset even if you do not manually select Create or Build first.

  4. Click the document or asset you created to open it in the right panel.

  5. Review the generated output.

  6. Ask Gong Assistant to make changes if you want a revised version.

  7. Click the drop down at the top of the right panel to swap between different documents.

  8. Once you are happy with the document, you can copy or download a markdown file for documents. For Gong assets such as a scorecard, click Create scorecard. The scorecard is created but not published. You can view, edit, and publish the scorecard in the Scorecards page.
