Who can use this: Any team member
Available on: Gong Foundation
Required permissions: Enrich: Contact details and account information
Retrieve a missing or outdated email address or phone number for a contact without leaving Gong.
Before you begin:
Enrich must be enabled for your company before you can use it.
Your permission profile must allow you to use Enrich.
You need available Gong credits to use Enrich with Gong-connected data partners. Credits are charged only when a data partner returns an email address or phone number.
If you do not see Enrich contact, ask your admin to check your access.
Enrich a contact
Use Enrich to retrieve a contact's missing email address, phone number, or both.
To enrich a contact:
From the left sidebar, click Engagement, and select People. Open the contact you want to enrich. You can also open the contact panel from a relevant to-do or another location in Gong where it is available.
Click Enrich contact.
To retrieve only one type of detail, click the dropdown next to Enrich contact, and select Enrich email address or Enrich phone number.
Wait for enrichment to complete.
Enrichment runs in the background. You can move or minimize the status indicator and continue working in Gong.
Review the result in the contact panel.
If Gong finds an email address or phone number, the details appear in the contact panel. The button changes to Enrich again, and Gong records when the contact was last enriched.
If Gong cannot find a detail, a message identifies which information could not be retrieved. No credits are charged when no data is returned.
If enrichment fails with an error, you see Couldn't be retrieved. Try again. Click Enrich contact again to retry.
If Gong determines that the contact no longer works at the account listed in Gong, it flags the contact and stops the enrichment request.
Credit use varies depending on what happens during enrichment. Learn more about how Enrich uses credits.
Use Enrich again when the contact's details may have changed or you need to retrieve updated information. Within 90 days, Enrich skips data partners it already queried for that contact. After 90 days, the full provider waterfall can run again.
Frequently asked questions
What if no data is returned?
It means that none of the configured data partners returned the requested detail for the contact. This is not an error, and no credits are charged.
Can I try again if no data is found?
You can select Enrich again to submit another request. The result may be the same if the contact is not included in any configured data partner's records.
When you enrich the contact again within 90 days, Gong does not query a provider that it already used for that contact during the previous request. After 90 days, the provider waterfall can run again from the beginning.
Does enrichment update the contact in my CRM?
Enriched data is stored in Gong. It is also written to your CRM only if your admin has mapped the Enrich fields to CRM fields.
Will Enrich replace information that is already in the CRM?
That depends on the overwrite setting configured by your admin for the relevant field mapping.
Will I be charged if the email address found is invalid?
Yes. If a data partner returns an email address that fails validation, Gong discards the address and checks the next provider. The provider that returned the invalid address still consumes a credit.
Why is 'Enrich contact' greyed out?
The Enrich contact option may be unavailable if:
Enrich is not enabled for your company.
Your permission profile does not allow you to use Enrich.
Your company does not have Gong credits available.
Contact your Gong admin if you need help checking your access or credit availability.
