Who can use this: Tech admin
Available on: Any Gong plan
Gong Enrich lets your team retrieve missing email addresses and phone numbers for contacts from external data partners without leaving Gong.
What Enrich does and what you control
Gong Enrich retrieves contact details, including email addresses and phone numbers, from connected data partners and makes them available in Gong. When a team member needs contact information that is missing, outdated, or incorrect, they can request fresh data from the data partners you have configured.
As the admin, you control:
Whether Enrich is enabled for your company
Which data partners are connected and in what order they are queried
How enriched data maps to fields in your CRM
Whether manual enrichment is available company-wide
Whether automatic enrichment via flow rulesets is available company-wide
How Enrich is triggered
Enrich retrieves contact data in two ways: manual and automatic.
With manual enrichment, team members initiate the enrich process as needed. This must be enabled in your Enrichment controls settings before team members can use it.
With automatic enrichment, Gong retrieves data automatically when a contact is added to an Engage flow configured to enrich data. Automatic enrichment for flows is defined in the flow ruleset.
Before querying data partners, Gong checks whether the contact is still associated with the company on their record. If Gong confirms the contact is no longer at that company, or cannot match the contact to a company at all, enrichment stops before any data partner is queried and no credits are used.
When a contact is enriched, either manually or through a flow ruleset, the associated account is also enriched automatically. Account enrichment does not require a separate action.
Both manual and automatic enrichment use the same data partners and waterfall order you configure. Credits are consumed when a data partner successfully returns contact data.
The configuration model
To get Enrich running, you need two things: Enrich must be enabled in the Data Enrichment settings, and at least one data partner must be connected.
From there, we recommend:
Setting the waterfall order for email and phone
Configuring CRM field mapping to write enriched data back to your CRM
You can also:
Restrict which team members can use manual enrichment
Configure flow rulesets to enrich contacts automatically when they enter a flow
See Configure Enrich for the full setup path.
How access works
Access to Enrich is controlled at two levels that operate independently. Company-level controls on the Data Enrichment page determine whether manual enrichment and flow ruleset enrichment are available for your company. In permission profiles, you set which team members can enrich contacts manually.
This permission applies to manual enrichment only. Contacts can be enriched through a flow ruleset even if the team member does not have the Enrich permission. See Configure Enrich for steps to configure both.
Data partners and waterfalls
Data partners are the external providers Gong queries to retrieve contact data. Gong Enrich supports the following data partners: LeadIQ, Wiza, RocketReach, Lusha, ZoomInfo, and Findymail.
A waterfall is a prioritized sequence of data partners. When enrichment runs, Gong queries the first data partner in the waterfall. If it returns no data, Gong moves to the next one until a result is found or all partners have been tried.
Returned email addresses are validated before being stored. If an email fails validation, it is discarded and Gong tries the next data partner in the waterfall. A credit is still charged because the data partner returned data.
Email and phone have separate waterfalls, so you can configure a different priority order for each. See Configure Enrich for steps.
Credits
A credit is consumed when a data partner successfully returns an email address or phone number for a contact. You are not charged for lookups that return no result.
Account enrichment does not consume Gong credits.
If you connect a data partner using your own credentials (BYOK), no Gong credits are charged for results from that partner.
For a full explanation of credit rules, including per-field behavior and credit governance options, see How Enrich consumes credits.
