Gong Assistant is available in several places throughout Gong. The best place to start depends on what information you want Gong Assistant to use.
Start from a call
Start from a call when you want to work with one conversation. On a call page, Gong Assistant uses information from that call and related Gong data, including account, deal, and participant information.
This is the best place to start when you want to:
Understand what happened in a specific call and related interactions with the same account or participants
Ask follow-up questions in the same thread
Request different response formats, such as bullet points, summaries, or drafted follow-up content
Review citations and jump back to the source in the call or related data
Choose this starting point when the question is really about this call.
Start from Search
Start from Search when you want to analyze multiple conversations instead of reviewing calls one by one. On Search, Gong Assistant uses the conversations included in the current search results.
This is the best place to start when you want to:
identify themes, patterns, or feedback across a group of calls
ask broad questions about a set of matching conversations
work from a scope defined by search filters
Each answer is tied to the search results that were active when you asked the question. If you change the filters, new questions use the updated results, while earlier answers stay tied to the earlier search state.
Choose this starting point when the question is about a set of calls, not a single conversation.
Start from the Gong Assistant page
Start from the Gong Assistant page when you want a broader starting point or more space to work. The Gong Assistant page is a dedicated workspace for analysis, content creation, and Gong asset creation.
Unlike Gong Assistant on other pages, the Gong Assistant page does not start with a predefined context. You decide what information Gong Assistant should use.
This is the best place to start when you want to:
Begin broadly and choose the context yourself
Work with larger responses, documents, and Gong assets
Review, edit, and manage documents or assets created elsewhere in Gong Assistant
Add context such as calls, folders, streams, or uploaded files directly from the page
Choose this starting point when you want flexibility, more room to work, or a place to manage larger outputs.
How to choose
Use this quick rule of thumb:
Start from a call when the work is about one conversation.
Start from Search when the work is about patterns or questions across multiple conversations.
Start from the Gong Assistant page when you want to choose your own context, build content or assets, or work with larger outputs.
