Who can use this: Business admin

Available on: Gong Forecast

Ideal for: RevOps

Required permissions: Manage dashboards

The Text widget adds a free-text area to the dashboard canvas. Use it to label sections, explain how to read a group of widgets, or add context that helps viewers interpret the data correctly.

Step 1: Open the dashboard

You add widgets from inside an existing dashboard, so start by navigating to the one you want to build out. If you haven't created a dashboard yet, do that first.

To open the dashboard:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Dashboards.

  2. Select the dashboard you want to add the widget to.

  3. Click + New widget at the top right of the dashboard.

  4. Select Text. Unlike other widgets, the Text widget opens a text editor directly on the canvas rather than a settings panel.

Tip:

If you have a lot of dashboards and aren't sure where to find yours, see Find and organize dashboards for guidance on searching, filtering, and navigating the Dashboards page.

Step 2: Write the content

The toolbar gives you the basics: font size, bold, italic, underline, links, lists, alignment, and strikethrough. Write content that serves a clear purpose: a section header for a group of widgets, a note explaining a methodology, or a reminder about what period the data covers.

To write and save the content:

  1. Click inside the text area and type your content.

  2. Use the toolbar to apply any formatting you need.

  3. Click the checkmark icon to confirm the content.

Tip:

To edit the content later, click the widget on the canvas to reopen the editor.
