Who's this for?

Connect to Google Workspace and give Gong access to calendar meetings and emails.
Note
This step should be performed by your Google Workspace Super Admin.
-
If you are a Super Admin, log in to Google Workspace as the Super Admin user, and then come back to Gong and click INSTALL GONG APP IN GOOGLE WORKSPACE.
-
If you are not a Super Admin, click Send a Gong activation link to your Google Workspace Admin under the INSTALL GONG APP IN GOOGLE WORKSPACE button. You then need to follow up with your Google Workspace Super Admin to make sure they install the Gong app in Google Workspace before you can continue to set up the Google Workspace integration.
-
In the Google Workspace integration settings page, click SET UP COMPANY-WIDE CONNECTION TO GONG.
Note
If you see a "Connected" indication, your org may have already connected the calendar. In any case, complete this step to make sure both calendar and email are connected.
-
You are directed to the Google Workspace Marketplace.
Note
If you later make any changes to the permissions when updating other Google Workspace configuration settings may cause the Google Workspace integration with Gong to become unstable.
-
Click Domain Install to install the Gong.io app.
-
Grant Gong.io the right to access your domain data. This permission is static, and ensures that Gong can import emails and calendar events for your company. For more details on each of the elements Gong can access, click i in the grant screen.
-
OPTIONAL: In the Turn ON for area, select the organizational unit (OU) you want to turn the Gong app on for.
Gong will only be able to access data for people in that unit.
Note
If you need to set up recording for a group of people, we recommend that you use OUs and not groups.
-
Click Accept.
When the set up is complete and Gong has access permissions, the set up screen closes, and a success message is displayed in the Google Workspace integration page.
Note that this step can take up to 24 hours to fully complete.
-
In the Google Workspace integration settings page, turn on import of calendar meetings, and select what type of meetings to import:
Note
These settings require a paid Gong seat. Learn more.
Note
By default, we turn on import for calendar meetings and emails, which is highly recommended so that your salespeople benefit from seeing a comprehensive view of deal activity, all in one place.
-
Import meetings set to be recorded: only meetings that match recording settings are imported.
-
Import all meetings, including meetings not set to be recorded: all meetings, including meetings with CRM contacts that are face to face, scheduled by the contact, or with a missing URL—but with the exception of private calls—are imported.
When this option is turned on, we import meetings from the last 12 months where we can match the participants with a CRM account.
-
Note that there are additional setup requirements for importing meetings not set to be recorded.
-
-
Turn on import of emails.
-
Turn on the ability for team members to send emails via Gong.
Turn on data capture for relevant team members.
-
Go to company settings > Team members.
-
In the SEAT column, verify that the relevant team members have a standard Gong seat. Learn more about Plans and seats.
-
For each team or individual who needs to import calendar events and emails, click
, and select Turn on data capture...
-
Verify that the calendar and email settings are turned on according what you want.
The following settings relate to calendar and emails:
-
Import non-recorded meetings
-
Import emails
The import of scheduled recorded meetings is an implicit setting when the calendar is connected.
-
-
Click APPLY.
In the Team members settings page, the data capture icons for calendar and email should change from gray to yellow or green.
Yellow indicates that Gong is checking the connection status to Google Workspace.
Green indicates that the connection status was verified and that meetings and emails are being recorded.
Note
Team managers can check the status of their team’s connections in My Settings. If they have permission, they can turn on email import from this screen.
