Aligning Analytics reports with historical data

Article summary

This article explains how to initiate a data backfill process to align your Analytics reports with changes made to your data. The service ingests data from up to 5 quarters into the Trends (including Projection), Changes, Pacing (including Pipeline needed), and Performance reports.

Who's this for?

Existing Gong Forecast customers with up to 5 quarters of Gong data.

Note: If your company is new to Gong Forecast and wishes to ingest historical CRM data into Gong, contact your CSM.

When do I need historical data backfill?

You may need historical data backfill if:

  • You've updated your business line, either by changing the data/amount/owner CRM fields or by changing your Forecast categories.

  • You've created a new business line.

Note: Without historical data backfill, new reports won't display any historical data, and existing reports will display mixed data: information shown up to the time of change will be calculated according to the past CRM field configuration, and information shown after the change will be calculated according to the new CRM field configuration.

How do I initiate a data backfill process?

A self-serve backfill service will be released soon. In the meantime, backfill is performed upon request.

To request historical data backfill:

  1. Make sure your CRM/Forecast category changes are complete and have been validated by all relevant stakeholders in your company.

  2. Reach out to your CSM to validate the data (up to 5 quarters) and initiate the backfill process.

  3. Once we initiate the backfill process, you should be able to see the updated reports within 3-5 business days.
