This article covers both the required and the optional settings for recording meetings with Zoom's native recorder.

The following settings can be updated on the account level, or for specific groups in Zoom that include all Gong users you want to set up native recording for.

Tip:

Zoom settings can be defined by account or by user group.

  • Account settings: go to Account Settings > Recording tab

  • Groups settings: go to Admin > Group Management, click your group's name and open the Recording tab.

For more information about Zoom groups go to: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/204519819-Managing-user-groups

Required Zoom settings

These required settings are prerequisites to enabling native Zoom recording.

  1. Make sure Cloud recording is switched ON and unlocked for any group that contains users recorded by Gong.

  2. Automatic recording can be switched ON or OFF, but it must be unlocked for any group that contains users recorded by Gong.

  4. If you have a Zoom pro license, in the Cloud recording settings section, make sure the following are checked:

    • Record active speaker with shared screen

    • Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately

      • Active speaker

Note:

Recording consent disclaimer

Zoom will always notify meeting participants that a meeting is being recorded. It is not possible to disable this notification. For participants joining by desktop client or mobile app, the screen will display a recording consent disclaimer. Participants who dial in on the phone will hear an audio prompt when they first join the meeting if it is already being recorded or at the time the recording is started.

Optional Zoom settings

The following settings are not mandatory but can be considered when enabling native recording.

Let Gong users take notes on calls

The Gong app for Zoom enables Gong users to take notes on calls, have them timestamped, and pulled into Gong as comments alongside the call.

You must be a Zoom account admin with Marketplace role access to install the Gong app for Zoom.

For more information see Gong app for Zoom.

Deauthorized users

When someone in your company no longer uses Gong, Gong removes Zoom tokens associated with them so that they no can no longer use the Gong app for Zoom. This does not affect your Zoom account or the historical data for that person in Gong.

Record meeting participants during screen share

With native Zoom recording, the host of the meeting can set up recording settings to include the active speaker or gallery as well as the shared screen in the meeting recording:

  1. Go to your Zoom user > Recording > Cloud recording settings.

  2. Pick what to show when the screen is shared:

    • Record active speaker with shared screen

    • Record gallery view with shared screen

  3. Click Save.

Email notifications

Zoom has an option to send an email notification when a meeting recording is ready. We recommend that you turn this off because Gong has a similar setting for when the recording becomes available in Gong.

  • Go to your Zoom user > Meeting > Email notification settings.

  • Toggle When a cloud recording is available to OFF.
