Add a funnel widget to a dashboard

Prev Next

Who can use this: Business admin

Available on: Gong Forecast

Ideal for: RevOps

Required permissions: Manage dashboards

The Funnel widget shows how deals progress through your sales stages: where they convert, where they stall, and where they drop off. Use it on leadership or operations dashboards where you want pipeline health visible at every stage of the process.

If you have existing Funnel widgets:

Funnel widgets created before August 2025 now support additional filtering options and multi-currency. A New setup available indicator appears on each older widget until it's resaved with the new settings. Open the widget settings and save it to unlock these capabilities.

Step 1: Open the dashboard

You add widgets from inside an existing dashboard, so start by navigating to the one you want to build out. If you haven't created a dashboard yet, do that first.

To open the dashboard:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Dashboards.

  2. Select the dashboard you want to add the widget to.

  3. Click + New widget at the top right of the dashboard.

  4. Select Funnel.

Tip:

If you have a lot of dashboards and aren't sure where to find yours, see Find and organize dashboards for guidance on searching, filtering, and navigating the Dashboards page.

Step 2: Configure the CRM data fields

The CRM data section maps three fields the widget uses to calculate deal value, ownership, and timing. The defaults (Amount, Owner ID, and Close Date) are correct for most setups. Only change them if your CRM uses different field names for these concepts.

To configure the CRM data fields:

  1. Under CRM data, click Amount field and select the field that stores deal value.

  2. Click Team member field and select the field that identifies deal ownership.

  3. Click Date field and select the field used to scope deals by time period.

Step 3: Configure the funnel stages

Funnel stages define which pipeline stages appear in the widget and in what order. Include only stages that belong to the same sales process. Mixing stages from different motions, like enterprise and SMB, produces funnel numbers that don't accurately represent either process.

Note:

The funnel's Won count is calculated from the CRM fields you mapped above, which may differ slightly from how your deal board calculates Won. If the two numbers don't match exactly, that's usually why.

To configure the funnel stages:

  1. Under Funnel steps by stage, click + Add to add a stage.

  2. Select the pipeline stage from your CRM. Stage labels and Gong's stage mapping must align. CRM stage changes, renamed stages, typos, or casing differences can cause deals to be excluded and may require remapping.

  3. Repeat to add all relevant stages in the order they appear in your sales process. Won is locked at the end.

Step 4: Set the team, period, filters, and drilldown

The team and period settings scope the deals the funnel analyzes. The drilldown connects each funnel stage to a drilldown view: when a viewer clicks a stage, they can see the underlying deals.

To set the team, period, filters, and drilldown:

  1. Under Select team and period, click Team member is and select a team.

  2. Click Date period is and select a time period.

  3. (Optional) Under Filters, click + Add filter to narrow the deals included in the funnel.

  4. Under Drilldown view, click Deal board and select a deal board for viewers to drill into when they click a stage.

  5. Click Save.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Funnel widget show a different Won count than my deal board?

The Funnel widget calculates Won based on the Amount field, Team member field, and Date field you mapped in step 2. If your deal board uses different field definitions or filters, the counts can differ. Compare the CRM data configuration in the widget settings against the filters on the deal board to find the discrepancy.

Can I show the funnel in count instead of amount?

Yes. The Amount and Count toggle in the widget preview lets viewers switch between deal value and deal count at any time. No settings change needed.

Why are some stages showing zero deals when I know deals exist at that stage?

Check two things: whether the deals fall within the selected period (deals outside the period won't appear), and whether the stage names you added match the exact names in your CRM. Even a small difference, an extra space or different capitalization, causes a stage to show zero.
