Writing instructions for AI brief types takes practice. Test your instructions a few times, on calls and accounts you’re familiar with, and tweaking them until you get results that you’re satisfied with.

Tips for getting great results from Gong AI

  • Write in natural language

  • Ask open-ended questions

  • Ask explicit questions

  • Ask questions about the content of the conversations

  • Explain terms that are jargon or ambiguous

  • For Yes/No question, use the details field to explain what further details you want in the answer

What were the customer’s pain points?

A pain point is a specific business problem, explicitly mentioned, that our solution can address, an area where the customer is struggling that our solution could help solve.

What topics were discussed during the call?

The summary should focus on the main topics that were discussed, and include a short description of each topic, and who said it.

What is the customer’s current tech stack?

Include existing systems to be replaced, required integrations, APIs, third-party platforms, databases, and any technical dependencies that were discussed. Include details about data migration requirements and specific technical configurations that were mentioned.

Who will be involved in implementation from the customer’s side?

Include their titles and roles in the implementation.

What is the implementation rollout strategy?

Include future implementation milestones, implementation timelines, onboarding phases, key deliverables, resource requirements, and training plans.

What are the customer’s pain points?

Examples of valid pain points:

- Losing efficiency due to manual processes

- Lacking visibility into important metrics

- Having difficulty scaling their current processes

Customize these instructions to suit your specific use cases.

  1. Did the customer communicate their business objectives and goals?
    Focus on company goals that were explicitly stated by the customer.

  2. Who are the decision-makers from the company that are involved in the buying decision for the company?

  3. What is the customer’s decision-making process for closing the deal with us?

  4. Which criteria does the customer consider when evaluating our solutions?

  5. Are there negative indications that this deal won't close?
    If so, what are they?

  6. What are the growth opportunities with this customer?
    Focus on growth opportunities with our products and services.

  7. Can you summarize the pricing information discussed?

  8. What is the implementation rollout strategy?
    Include future implementation milestones, implementation timelines, onboarding phases, key deliverables, resource requirements, and training plans.

  9. Which other solutions is the customer considering and how do we compare with these solutions?
    Focus on any known competitors, and don’t state competitors that weren’t mentioned.
