Who can use this: Any team member
Available on: Gong Engage
Ideal for: Sales rep, Sales manager
Find the contacts and leads synced from your CRM on the People page, then call, email, or add them to a flow without leaving the list.
Find contacts and leads
The People page holds every contact and lead your company works with, whether internal or external, as long as they are in your CRM. The Contacts and Leads tabs at the top switch between the two.
To find a contact or lead:
From the left sidebar, click Engagement, and select People.
Click Contacts or Leads.
Find the person:
To search, enter a name, title or company in the Search box above the list.
To see more about someone, hover over their name for details such as their email address and phone number, or click their name to open their full panel.
Both tabs are sorted by last modified or created by default, so people newly added to the CRM appear first. Learn more about viewing and managing contacts and leads.
Tip:
Click Manage columns to add, remove, and reorganize columns. You automatically have several columns defined by Gong, and you can add any column based on a field in your CRM.
Filter the list
Narrow the list to the people you are actually working with by filtering on any CRM field imported to Gong. If you don't see the field you need, ask your admin to import it.
To add a filter:
From the left sidebar, click Engagement, and select People.
Click + Add filter, and choose a field from your CRM or from Gong. To filter by assignment or campaign, choose one of these:
Account assignee: Shows contacts under a team member's accounts.
Lead assignee: Shows a team member's leads.
Campaign name: Shows all the leads or contacts that are part of a CRM campaign.
Set the value, and click Apply. For an assignee filter, select the person, or select your own name to see only your contacts or leads. Repeat for as many filters as you need.
Each filter you add sits above the list as a chip you can read at a glance, so you can see what is narrowing the list. Click the × on a chip to drop that filter, or Clear all to start again. Gong keeps your filters until you clear them, so they are still there when you leave the page and come back.
Contacts can be filtered by both contact fields and account fields, while leads can only be filtered by lead fields. What you can see is still governed by your CRM data permissions.
Filter by flow
Filter by flow status to find people who are in a flow, people who aren't in one yet, or people at a specific flow or step.
To filter by flow status:
From the left sidebar, click Engagement, and select People.
Click Contacts or Leads, and then click + Add filter.
Choose what you want to see:
People not currently in a flow: Select Currently in Engage flow.
People in specific flows: Select Flow status (incl. history), and then select the flows you want. You see the people in those flows and each flow status, including past and current flows.
A flow field: Search for it by name, such as Current flow ID.
Save and reuse a set of filters
Save a combination of filters you use often and name it, so you can reapply it without rebuilding it each time.
To use a saved filter:
From the left sidebar, click Engagement, and select People.
Click the All Contacts dropdown above the list.
Click a filter under My saved filters, or find it using Search for a saved filter.
Hover over a saved filter before you apply it and a card shows you what is in it, condition by condition, along with who created it and when.
To save your current filters:
Apply the filters you want to keep.
Click Save as, next to the dropdown.
Enter a name, and click Save. The filter appears under My saved filters.
Tip:
Hover over a saved filter to rename it with the pencil icon, or click the link icon to copy a link you can send to a teammate.
Note:
Any saved filters you create are visible to all other team members.
Note:
An asterisk next to the name of the view you are on means you have changed the filters without saving them. Use Save as if you want to keep the new version, or switch views to drop the changes.
Understand flow status
The Flow status column tells you where each person stands with your outreach.
In flow: A green pill. The person has a flow running, with at least one step still to come.
Paused: A yellow pill. All of the person's flows are paused. Resume flow is available on them and not on anyone else.
Not in flow: A grey pill. The person is not in a flow at all.
A badge with a number next to someone's name is the number of flows they are in. When some of their flows are paused, the number counts the active flows. Hover over the badge to see the names of the flows. The badge is green if any flows are active, and yellow if all flows are paused.
A separate blue lightning badge shows recent digital activity from the person, such as email opens and clicks.
Take action from the list
From a person's row, use the Actions column to add them to a flow, call them, send a one-off email, or open their LinkedIn Sales Navigator profile. If they're already in a flow, Add to flow shows as Manage flows instead.
The Last action and Next action columns show what happened most recently and what is due. When someone is in multiple active flows, the Next action field shows the next step due across any flow they are in.
To act on multiple people at once:
From the left sidebar, click Engagement, and select People.
Select the people you want.
Choose an action from the bar that appears:
Add to flow
Pause flow
Resume flow: Available only when at least one selected person is paused.
Remove from flow
Note:
You can't send a one-off email to a group from this list. Add the group to a flow with an auto email step instead, or use the envelope icon on each row for one-off emails.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see a contact I know is in my CRM?
A new CRM contact or lead generally appears in Gong within 6 minutes. It can take longer with high CRM volume or an initial import. If the record still isn't there, the usual reasons are that it doesn't meet the CRM assignment criteria your admin configured, you don't have data access to its account or contact, or it is still waiting on a CRM sync. Ask your admin to check.
When should I work from People instead of Accounts?
Work from People when you are going across companies, need leads as well as contacts, or want to save a set of filters. Learn more about the difference between the People and Account pages in Engage and working with accounts in Engage.
