Who can use this: Tech admin, Webex admin

Available on: Any Gong plan

Where to go: Admin center > Settings > Data capture > Web conferencing

Configure the Webex integration to generate dynamic meeting links which display the consent page, so participants can consent to being recorded before they join the meeting.

Before you begin

Your Webex admin must enable the Custom Integration - Enable third-party apps and developers to integrate with Webex Meetings using XML APIs in Webex.

Connect Webex and Gong

  1. Go to Admin center > Settings > Data capture > Web conferencing.

  2. Turn on Recording in the Webex row and click Settings.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. Sign in to Webex with an admin account, and authorize the integration.

Required permissions and scopes

To manage recording consent and ensure accurate call owner attribution, Gong requires specific permissions in your Webex account. The following sections describe the Webex scopes Gong requires and how Gong uses them.

Manage meetings

  • Permission (scopes): Create, manage, or cancel meetings of any Webex user in your organization

  • What it does: Allows Gong to create, update, and delete meetings in Webex on behalf of your team members.

  • Why Gong needs it: Required for the Gong consent page. When a user schedules a meeting using the Gong add-on, Gong creates a corresponding Webex meeting so the recording consent link is mapped to the correct Webex meeting link. If a meeting is rescheduled or canceled in Gong, the update is automatically reflected in Webex.

View organization user profiles

  • Permission (scopes): Allows the application to read your company directory

  • What it does: Allows Gong to access the list of users in your Webex organization.

  • Why Gong needs it: Required for user synchronization between Gong and Webex. Gong runs a background process that keeps the user list up to date so Gong users and Webex users remain aligned.

Read meeting preferences and site info

  • Permission (scopes): Retrieve meeting preferences of all Webex users in your organization

  • What it does: Provides access to a user's Webex site assignments and Personal Meeting Room details.

  • Why Gong needs it: Required for call ownership attribution and personal meeting links. By identifying a user’s default Webex site and Personal Meeting ID (PMI), Gong can sync the user’s personal meeting link with their Gong static consent link. Personal Meeting IDs are also used to attribute calls to the correct owner.

Read meeting and invitee details

  • Permission (scopes): Retrieve meetings of any Webex user in your organization

  • What it does: Allows Gong to retrieve meeting details, including the invitee list and meeting host.

  • Why Gong needs it: Required for participant identification and call ownership attribution. Gong retrieves the invitee list and cross-references attendees with Gong team members to identify participants, generate accurate recording artifacts, and identify the meeting owner.

View live participant data

  • Permission (scopes): Read participant information from meetings for all Webex users of your organization

  • What it does: Provides the ability to see who is currently active in a live Webex meeting.

  • Current usage: Not currently used.
