Gong Engage provides visual guardrails to help you stay compliant without manual effort. Compliance policies ensure you stay within regional regulations (such as GDPR or CCPA) and respect your prospects' communication preferences without having to check their status manually.

Compliance policies apply to contacts and leads, not team members at your company. Policies are applied based on who the contact or lead is, not which team member is communicating with them.

Person view

When you click on someone’s name from anywhere in Engage, a panel opens on the right side that includes information about their compliance policy.

  • Status labels: A red icon appears next to call and/or email buttons when a contact or lead has been opted out

  • Disabled actions: If a channel is restricted by policy, the corresponding button (email or call) is disabled.

  • Gong prevents non-compliant outreach by blocking all manual calls and emails for contacts and leads who meet the criteria, as defined by your company’s compliance policy for that person.

Flows and automations

  • Automatic step skipping: If a person is opted out of emails but allowed for calls, Gong automatically skips the email steps in a flow and only surfaces the call tasks.

  • Flow removal: Contacts and leads are automatically removed from flows once they are opted out, even if manually adding to the flow is technically still available according to the compliance policy.

  • Automation safety: Opted-out contacts and leads are blocked from being added to flows via automations.
