Whisper for Topics is being deprecated as part of a broader shift toward more advanced, AI-powered analysis. While Whisper for Topics helped surface basic trends, a newer Gong Agent now makes it possible to uncover richer, more nuanced insights with far less setup.

What this means for you

  • New Whisper for Topics analyses are no longer supported

  • Existing published Whisper for Topics analyses will remain available through April 2026, so you can revisit them as needed

  • Going forward, AI Theme Spotter is the recommended way to analyze customer conversations at scale

What to use instead: AI Theme Spotter

AI Theme Spotter is an AI agent that helps you analyze the voice of the customer at scale by automatically detecting recurring patterns across large sets of calls. Instead of defining topics manually, AI Theme Spotter uses AI Tracker detections to surface insights that are difficult to identify on your own.

With AI Theme Spotter, you can:

  • Identify recurring customer themes across up to 20,000 calls per analysis

  • Analyze conversations in all supported languages

  • Focus on business questions like customer pain, objections, pricing reactions, and decision criteria

  • Explore and share out results to inform strategy

This makes it easier to move from individual conversations to meaningful, company-wide insights.

A common use case: Understanding buyer decisions at scale

If you previously used Whisper for Topics to analyze customer conversations, AI Theme Spotter is the improved way to do this today.

Example:
You want to understand the most common factors influencing buyer decisions mentioned in recent calls.

With AI Theme Spotter, you can:

  1. Go to Insights > AI Theme Spotter and create a new analysis

  2. Choose a business question from the drop-down list related to buyer decisions

  3. Narrow the scope using call filters like date range, deal stage, or account attributes

  4. Let Gong analyze the calls and surface recurring themes

The result is a clear view of what customers are consistently talking about—without manual topic setup.

AI Theme Spotter

  1. The question asked in the analysis

  2. Filters that were applied to the analysis, and the period covered by it

  3. The number of themes identified while answering the question, and the number of calls and accounts in which these themes were mentioned

  4. A breakdown of each theme according to the percentage of analyzed calls it appeared in, how many deals and accounts these calls reflect, and the revenue associated with these deals

  5. Each theme, clearly named, and a short summary

  6. Click View details to see a drill-down into the theme and its subthemes

Why AI Theme Spotter is a better long-term solution

AI Theme Spotter is designed to support large-scale analysis of customer conversations. Compared to Whisper for Topics, it offers:

  • Less setup, powered by AI Tracker detections

  • More nuanced insights across large call sets

  • Flexible filtering to focus on the right conversations

  • A foundation for continued improvements to Gong’s AI-driven insights

Note:

Only business admins can create analyses. Team members with the AI Theme Spotter permission can view them.
