Gong Engage*
This article explains how the Gong dialer works when your company’s Gong instance is hosted in the EU data center.
Note
This is not based on where you or your team members are located. It only applies if your admin has chosen to store your company’s Gong instance in the EU data center.
Because Gong dialer uses Twilio as its telephony provider, certain functionalities differ when running in Twilio’s EU (Ireland IE1) region compared to the US region.
Data storage
Communications data is processed and stored within the EU when your Gong instance is configured in the EU data center.
Some Twilio resources remain globally managed and stored in the United States, including:
Phone numbers
Regulatory bundles and associated documentation (addresses, business numbers, etc.)
Trust Hub documentation (business number, address, etc.)
See Twilio global infrastructure for more details:
Twilio global infrastructure: regional product and feature availability
Supported functionality in the EU data center
Make and receive calls with business numbers through Gong Dialer on web and via the mobile app.
Store and process call data in line with EU residency requirements.
Limitations in the EU data center
Twilio’s EU region does not currently support personal phone number verification. As a result:
The mobile dialer is only available for Engage customers who have business numbers.
Outbound calls using personal numbers are not available (web or mobile).
Forwarding incoming calls to personal numbers is not supported at this time.
Current gaps
Non-Engage customers:
Can’t use Gong’s mobile dialer.
Engage customers:
Can only use the mobile dialer with business numbers.
Can’t use a personal phone number for outbound calls.
Can’t forward incoming calls to personal numbers.
*The features available to you depend on your company’s plan and your assigned seats.
