Opportunity teams allow collaboration on specific sales deals, enabling multiple members to play a part in closing a sales opportunity.

With Gong deal boards, you can view all the deals a person or team is working on, even if they’re not the primary deal owner. This provides managers enhanced visibility into their team's activities, while allowing individuals to track every deal they've contributed to within their pipeline.

This set-up is commonly used alongside opportunity splits.

Considerations for using opportunity teams in Gong

  • Make sure that opportunity teams are set up in your CRM. We only support Salesforce. If you’re using the standard Salesforce object – Opportunity team, you’ll be able to easily set it up in Gong.

  • The Salesforce integration user must have access to any opportunity objects, such as opportunity teams, and splits.

How to set up opportunity teams

Deals > Pipeline or Forecast

  1. You can set up opportunity teams in either a deal board or forecast board:

    1. In a deal board, click Edit board or + Create board.

    2. In your chosen forecast board, click Forecast settings.  

  2. In the Basics section, under Show deals where team members are in, choose one of the following options:

    1. Team member attribute or opportunity team. Included deals are those handled by team members that appear either in the selected Team member attribute field or in the deal’s opportunity team.

    2. Opportunity team only. Included deals are those handled by team members who are part of the deal’s opportunity team.

  3. Select Team member attribute as usual. This can be any role defined in your CRM, for example – Owner, Sales engineer, CSM. The board will then show deals handled by people in those roles.

Viewing opportunity teams in the deal board

When viewing your deal board, you’ll see a column showing the Opportunity Team members for each deal. The board displays and aggregates deals that include the team members you selected.
