Format your emails in the email composer

Prev Next

Who can use this: Any team member

Available on: Gong Engage

Ideal for: Sales rep, Sales manager

Format the emails you write in the Engage composer so they look the way you want, including fonts, colors, images and mentions. Text you copy from Outlook may change font, and this article shows you how to keep it.

Format text in the composer

Change the font, font size and font color, including colors set with HEX codes. You can also apply rich text formatting and add emojis.

These fonts are available to all team members:

  • Arial

  • Verdana

  • Helvetica

  • Georgia

  • Times New Roman

  • Trebuchet MS

  • Lucida Sans

  • Courier New

To start every new email in your preferred font, set a default font in the email composer settings.

Copy text from Gmail or Outlook

  • Gmail: The fonts used in Gmail are also available in Gong, so text keeps its formatting when you copy and paste it from Gmail into the Gong email composer.

  • Outlook: The default Outlook fonts, Calibri and Aptos, aren't web-safe, so they don't render exactly the same across the web and every browser and computer. If your Outlook font is installed on your device, it is available in Gong. If it isn't, the font changes when you copy and paste from Outlook into the Gong email composer.

Add images and mentions

  • In-line images: Drag and drop an image or GIF into the body of your email or template, and resize it as you like.

  • @mentions: Type "@" followed by a teammate's or contact's name in the body of an email. Gong adds the person you mention as a recipient.

Use Calibri and Aptos in the composer

Outlook's fonts aren't web-safe, so they appear in the Gong composer only if they are installed on your device and your browser can use them. You need a Chromium-based browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, kept up to date.

To use Calibri or Aptos in the Gong email composer:

  1. Check whether the font is installed on your computer, searching for the exact font name, such as "Aptos" or "Calibri". A name like "Calibri Regular" doesn't work.

    • Mac: Open Font Book and search for the font.

    • Windows: Open Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization, click Fonts, and search for the font.

  2. If the font isn't listed, download and install it.

  3. Make sure the Fonts setting is switched on in your browser.

  4. Quit and relaunch your browser. Closing a tab or window isn't enough.

  5. Open the Gong email composer and check that the font appears.
