Team members use Forecast submission columns to submit their forecast numbers. Numbers are submitted when company snapshot is recorded.

To add a submission column:

  1. Click New column > Forecast submission.

  2. Give the column a name (ex: “Commit”) and a description.

  3. Set the submission amount type to either Currency or Unit. If you choose Unit, enter a Display name (for example: BKG for number of bookings).

  4. Next to Add related metric, add a metric that supports team members in making their forecast submission decision (for example, to support Commit, add Bookings ($) as a related metric. Filter the metric to ensure the data feeding your column represents the sales motion properly.

    1. Click Manage metrics and create it if you can’t find the metric you need.

    2. Under Advanced options, turn on auto-submit to automatically submit the metric’s value when company snapshot is recorded.

      When this is turned on, Gong captures a value of the selected metric right before company snapshot is recorded and submits it on behalf of team members. On their forecast board, team members see an indication that numbers were automatically submitted:

  5. Under Customize display, see how a single cell in the column appears on the board. Adding or removing metrics is reflected here.

    Note:

    The numbers displayed in this section are placeholders and don’t represent your data.

    1. Turn on Show submission last change with and then select the type of graphic indication.

    2. Turn on Show progress to measure your submission progress against a target or a metric, and then select it. If you can’t find the metric or target you need, click Manage metrics/Manage targets respectively and create it. Filter the metric to ensure the data feeding your column represents the sales motion properly.

  6. Next to Auto-calculate quarterly outcome:

    1. Turn on Auto-calculate to automatically submit the totals as the quarter progresses by aggregating actuals from completed months and submissions for upcoming months:

    2. Select the metric that represents your actuals. Filter the metric to ensure the data feeding your column represents the sales motion properly while using a centralized data point.

      Note:

      You can either auto-submit the quarterly totals or the primary metric representing your weekly/monthly forecast, but not both. If this option is unavailable, turn off Auto-submit under the related metric’s Advanced option, and vice versa.

  7. Save the column.

  8. Rearrange columns by drag and drop:

Once the board is published, team members can click a cell to open a panel on the right. The panel displays the latest submission, and indicates whether it was automatic or manual.
