As a meeting organizer, there's a couple of things to note about recording calls in Google meet. First, read the Security settings update. Second, learn about using the Gong consent page with Google Meet to capture recording consent.
Google Meet has recently updated their security settings which impacts recording workflows in Gong.
Gong was automatically admitted to relevant meetings in Google Meet.
Due to security considerations, Google Meet now only admits people automatically to a meeting if they are signed-in users who belong to the company domain or they are included in the meeting invite. Otherwise the participants, including Gong, need to be admitted from the waiting room.
Gong is no longer automatically admitted to relevant meetings in Google Meet.
The meeting organizer must now manually admit Gong to Google Meet meetings.
To ensure your calls continue to be recorded without any issues, we recommend you inform your company's Gong users about this important Google Meet security settings update.
Your organization may have connected with Google Meet in order to leverage Gong's consent page for capturing recording consent.
Your admin will have set up your organization settings to use one of the following types of link to the Gong consent page:
Dynamic link: A unique, dynamic link to the consent page will be assigned to every meeting you organize, and included in the meeting invitation. Upon joining the meeting, participant can consent to be recorded or (if set up in your org settings) may opt out of recording.
The link looks similar to this:
https://join.gong.io/[YOUR COMPANY NAME]/[firstname].[lastname]/[unique meeting ID]
You must use the Gong calendar add-in to schedule meetings in this way. The add-in may have been added to your calendar in a company-wide installation - best to check with your Gong tech admin.
When setting up meetings, you must use the add-in to automatically enter the Gong consent page link.
Personal meeting room (static) link: A static link to the consent page will be assigned to every meeting you organize, and included in the meeting invitation. This link is unique to you, and you can find it in your Gong profile page.
Example: https://join.gong.io/[YOUR COMPANY NAME]/[firstname].[lastname]
When setting up meetings, use the calendar add-in to automatically enter the Gong consent page link, or manually paste your link in the meeting invite.
Your admin can also let you decide which of these 2 types of link to use.
