Web conference calls use internet-based platforms to enable audio, video, and screen sharing between participants. Meetings are scheduled via your calendar and participants join at the specific time.

Gong supports integration with the following web conference providers:

  • Zoom

  • Google Meet

  • Webex

  • Microsoft Teams

  • GoToMeeting

  • Amazon Chime

  • RingCentral Meetings

  • RingCentral Video

  • join.me

  • Uber Conference

  • Appointlet

Once set up, Gong scans team members’ calendars to identify meetings that should automatically be recorded according to your company team members’ settings. These calls are imported to Gong, transcribed and analyzed to provide AI-powered insights and data that give you actionable insights and improve your business outcomes.

How meetings are recorded

Meetings are recorded in one of the following ways:

  • Gong bot. A virtual participant, responsible for recording the call, is added to the meeting. Available for all web conferencing integrations.

  • Native recording. Recording is via the provider’s native recording functionality, with no additional participant added to the call. Native recording is only available with Zoom.

If a meeting isn’t set to record automatically, hosts can add the Gong bot to the meeting by including the Gong assistant in the list of meeting participants. These meetings are recorded either with the Gong bot or natively in Zoom, depending on your settings.

Note:

If a meeting is recorded with the Gong bot and has a waiting room enabled, the host must admit the bot to start the recording. With native Zoom recording, clicking the record button starts the recording, even when a waiting room is in use.

Native Zoom integration

With native Zoom recording, Zoom records the call directly, no Gong bot is added. This results in better audio quality and more accurate speaker identification. Team members can also install the Gong app for Zoom to take notes, collaborate, and receive real-time insights on their speaking time during calls.

You can set up your system for both native Zoomm recording and recording with the Gont bot.

To set up native Zoom recording, see Zoom integration overview.

Getting consent to record calls

Some web conferencing integrations offer the ability to generate a dynamic meeting link that displays a consent page before participants join. This requires additional configuration but typically improves recording quality.

This functionality is supported for:

  • Zoom

  • Google Meet

  • Webex

  • GoToMeeting

Managing web conference integrations

Choose which web conference providers to record calls from in the Web conferencing page.

The Web conferencing page displays:

  • Which web conferencing providers are set to record calls

  • The number of days calls have been recorded for, per provider

  • Whether the Gong bot or native recording is set

  • Consent page settings for that provider together with additional settings
