Call recording and consent settings define when calls are recorded and how recording consent is communicated to participants. These settings apply at the workspace level.
Recording settings
These settings determine whether a call is recorded, both for calls conducted internally and externally.
Internal call recording
Configure whether Gong records calls where all participants are from your company. By default, Gong does not record internal calls.
Record when
Configure whether a call is recorded when:
The call host is a recorded user
At least one team member is a recorded user
Consent settings
Configure how recording consent is communicated to call participants.
Consent notice timing
Choose when participants are notified that the call is being recorded:
Before the call: Participants are notified via a pre-call email from Gong before the call starts. In this case, they give consent by joining the call.
During the call: Participants are notified when they join the call. In this case, they give consent by staying on the call. You can also add a custom message to personalize the message to participants.
Consent enforcement
The consent enforcement settings determine whether recording will proceed if consent is not given.
Stop recording when consent is not given: Choose whether to stop recording if a participant does not give consent or leaves without consenting (applicable when consent is enforced during the call). When enabled, a notification is sent to the call host after the call.
Regional consent
In some regions, local privacy laws require dual consent for call recording (all parties must agree to be recorded). Configure the country-specific consent settings to ensure compliance.
For more background on call recording laws by country, see Sales call recording laws and compliance.
