Understanding the AI Briefer

The AI Briefer is an AI agent that generates structured summaries called briefs for accounts, deals, and calls. Briefs help team members quickly understand what’s going on in a given context by finding and summarizing the most relevant information from specific calls and emails.

Rather than digging through long transcripts, team members get an organized summary of key points tailored to specific use cases, like preparing for a meeting, reviewing deal status, or onboarding a new team member.

Briefs are available throughout Gong—on the homepage, account pages, deal boards, and call pages—so team members can access relevant information wherever they are.

What is a brief?

A brief is a snapshot generated by Gong AI that organizes important information into a template made up of sections. In each section, Gong AI answers a question based on information from past calls and emails.

What is a brief type?

A brief type is the template that tells Gong AI what to include in the brief. Each brief type consists of sections; each section includes a question and optional instructions to guide the AI. For example, a brief type may include sections with questions like:

  • What are the customer’s company pain points?

  • Did the customer communicate their business goals?

  • What follow-up actions were agreed upon during the call?

Gong provides default brief types for common scenarios like account overviews and discovery calls. Admins can create custom brief types tailored to specific situations that require quick context to make decisions or take action. For example, when preparing for account handoffs or assessing deal progress.

Briefs for accounts and deals

In the Briefs tab, the goal of the brief is to show an overview of the deal; in the Score tab, the goal is to show deal risk. Brief types for each of these tabs are chosen when the board is set up.
