Starting September 2025, Salesforce changed how connected apps can connect. This update applies to Gong and other third-party applications. If you try to connect Gong to Salesforce, you get an OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC error:

Gong’s connected apps

Gong connects to Salesforce using three apps:

  • Gong Integration App: Used for data ingest and enrichment, and for connecting through the Salesforce integration page.

  • Gong.io user connection: Manages each user’s connection when editing deals in Deal boards or contacts/leads in Engage.

  • Gong: Used when Salesforce is your identity provider for SSO.

As of September 2025, Salesforce requires these connected apps to be installed in your organization.

Install the connected apps

Install the apps in your organization:

  1. Go to the Profile or Permission Set for the integration user.

  2. Under System Permissions, check Approve Uninstalled Connected Apps.

  3. Go to Setup > Connected Apps OAuth Usage and search for the following Gong connected apps:

    • Gong Integration App: Used for data ingest and enrichment, and for connecting through the Salesforce integration page.

    • Gong.io user connection: Manages each user’s connection when editing deals in Deal boards or contacts/leads in Engage.

    • Gong: Used when Salesforce is your identity provider for SSO.

  4. Click Install for each app.
