Set up the Zoom Phone dialer

Prev Next

Who can use this: Tech admin, Business admin

Available on: Gong Foundation, Gong Engage

If your company uses Zoom Phone instead of the Gong Dialer, you can connect Zoom Phone to Gong Engage. Once connected, team members can use Zoom Phone from within the Gong interface the same way they would use the Gong Dialer, and calls made through Zoom Phone are reflected in Engage Analytics.

Check which dialers are connected

Before setting up Zoom Phone, check whether it has already been connected to your Gong instance.

To check which dialers are connected:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Admin center.

  2. In the Settings tab, click Dialer setup under Gong Engage.

  3. Check the dropdown in the top left. It shows which dialer is currently active and any other dialers you have already connected.

If Zoom Phone does not appear in this menu, it has not been connected yet.

Connect Zoom Phone to Gong Engage

Use the Dialer setup dropdown to add Zoom Phone as a connected dialer.

To connect Zoom Phone:

  1. In the Dialer setup dropdown, click Add dialer.

  2. Select Zoom Phone and click Connect dialer.

  3. Check your connection settings and click Connect.

Set up Zoom Phone

After connecting Zoom Phone, complete the following steps to activate it.

To activate Zoom Phone:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Admin center.

  2. In the Settings tab, click Dialer setup under Gong Engage.

  3. Select Zoom Phone from the dropdown in the top left.

  4. Complete the Zoom Phone Smart Embed guide.

  5. Install the Zoom app from the App Marketplace.

  6. Enable automatic calling from third-party applications in your Zoom settings. If this is already enabled, no action is needed.

  7. Add the required domains in Zoom settings:

    • For Gong: https://[your domain].app.gong.io

    • For the Gong Chrome Extension: chrome-extension://nbnadmpkgmmampijfdadgadjookahkbc

    • If you use Gmail: https://mail.google.com

    • If you use Salesforce: your Salesforce domain, typically https://[your domain].lightning.force.com

  8. Click Activate and set as default.

Zoom Phone is now active and set as the default dialer for your Engage users.

Exporting Zoom Phone calls to Salesforce

If you want calls made through Zoom Phone in Gong to be pushed to Salesforce, ensure you have the correct activity export setup configured. See your Salesforce settings in Company Settings > CRM for details.

What happens when you switch between dialers

If you switch from the Gong Dialer to an external dialer like Zoom Phone, your Gong business phone numbers are retained for 10 days. If you switch back to the Gong Dialer within that window, the numbers are still available. If you switch to the external dialer again during that period, the 10-day window starts over.

Certain features are only available while using the Gong Dialer and are not available while Zoom Phone or another external dialer is active:

  • Dialer recording settings configured for mobile

  • Trust Hub profile and trusted calling configuration

  • Business phone numbers (except personal numbers for mobile)

  • Regulatory documentation for the Gong Dialer

  • Email notifications about submitted documentation

  • Call notes

Engage users should use only one dialer. Even after switching to Zoom Phone, you can still import calls from the Gong Dialer and other telephony systems through the Telephony Systems page for other parts of your organization that continue to use them.
