Required permissions: Create, edit, and delete boards

Build an Account board by configuring tabs to organize accounts into views, columns to surface the data your team needs, and an optional default brief for AI-generated account context. Boards combine CRM fields, Gong activity data, and AI insights in a filterable grid.

Before you begin

Confirm the following before creating a board:

  • Your CRM account object has an owner field imported into Gong that links to actual CRM user records. This is what makes the team member selector work. Without it, the selector will be blank and the board won't filter by owner or team.

  • The CRM account fields you want to show as columns, such as ARR, renewal date, or health score, are imported into Gong. If a field isn't imported, you won't see it when adding columns to the board. Your tech admin can import it in the Data import tab of your CRM integration page in Admin center, under the Account object.

  • The team members who will use this board have the Account boards permission turned on in their permission profile. Without it, they won't be able to open the board.

Note:

Account boards don't support account-level permissions. Anyone with access to Account boards sees all accounts on the board. To restrict access, use page-level permissions in the permission profile.

Note:

Multi-select picklist and reference fields appear read-only, and only CRM fields can be edited inline.

Step 1: Open the board builder

The board builder has four configuration sections: Details, Tabs, Columns, and Briefs.

To open the board builder:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Revenue, and select Accounts.

Note: If no boards exist yet, a setup page (Set up account boards) prompts you to create the first one.

  2. Click the Board actions menu icon at the top right, and select New account board.

Step 2: Configure board details

The Details section controls the board's scope and how it calculates totals. The choices you make here determine which accounts appear and what your team sees in the tab headers.

To configure board details:

  1. Click Details in the left panel.

  2. Enter a name for the board in the Name field.

  3. (Optional) Enter a description in the Description field.

  4. Click the Team members dropdown, and select the CRM user-lookup field that represents account ownership, for example Account Owner or CSM. This field determines whose accounts appear when a team member views the board.

  5. Select an option under Aggregate accounts by:

    • Number of accounts: Shows the number of accounts per tab.

    • Number of accounts and the sum of their amount: Shows the count plus a sum of a CRM amount field, such as ARR. Select the amount field from the Select amount field dropdown.

  6. Enable or disable the Show accounts by date checkbox:

    • Enabled: Date-range filtering becomes available on the board. Select a CRM date field from the dropdown, such as Renewal date or Contract end date. Viewers can filter by date ranges such as This month, Next quarter, or a custom range.

    • Disabled: No date filter appears on the board.

Step 3: Configure tabs

Tabs divide accounts into named groups based on filter logic. Each tab gives the team a focused view, such as accounts up for renewal, accounts needing engagement, or high-value accounts by segment. A board starts with one default tab and supports up to eight.

To add and configure a tab:

  1. Click Tabs in the left panel.

  2. Click + Add tab. A new tab appears with a default name.

  3. Hover over the new tab and click Edit. Enter a name for the tab, for example "Up for renewal" or "Needs engagement," then click the checkmark to save.

  4. Click + Add filter and select an option:

    • Single condition: Select a field, choose a condition, and enter a value.

    • Condition group: Add multiple conditions, then choose how they combine:

      • And: All conditions must match. And conditions are evaluated before Or conditions.

      • Or: Any condition can match.

  5. (Optional) Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each additional tab.

Tip: To reorder tabs, drag them into position. The tab at the top of the list appears leftmost on the board.

Tip:

Filters added by viewers on the board apply across all tabs.

Step 4: Configure columns

Columns control which fields are visible in the account grid. Choose fields that help the team assess account health and prioritize at a glance. New boards start with default columns that you can replace.

To add columns:

  1. Click Columns in the left panel.

  2. Click + Add column and select an option:

    • Gong fields: Gong-calculated fields such as activity windows (3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year), Activity level, last activity date, last activity type, last activity direction, and next call.

    • Account CRM fields: Imported fields from your CRM Account object, such as ARR, renewal date, account type, health score, or region.

  3. Search for and select a field to add it. Repeat for each column you want to include.

Tip:

To reorder columns, drag them into position. To remove a column, click the trash icon next to it.

Step 5: Set a default brief

The Briefs section sets the AI brief type and time period that appears by default when a team member opens the Account panel from this board. This step is optional; if you skip it, no default brief is set and team members choose their own. Both Gong-provided briefs and briefs your company has published appear in the list.

(Optional) To set a default brief:

  1. Click Briefs in the left panel.

  2. Click the Brief dropdown, and select a brief type.

  3. Click the Period dropdown, and select a time period, such as Last 90 days or 365 days prior to last conversation.

Step 6: Save the board

Saving the board makes it immediately available to team members with Account boards access. The board is added to the board selector at the top of the Accounts page.

To save the board:

Click Save.

Note:

To edit or delete a board after saving, see Manage Account boards.

Frequently asked questions

Which CRM field should I use for team members?

The field must be a user-lookup field on the Account object in your CRM, meaning a field that references CRM user records, such as Account Owner or CSM. A text field that stores an owner's name as plain text will not work; the team member selector will be blank. If your CRM Account object does not have a suitable field, your tech admin can import it in the Data import tab of your CRM integration page in Admin center, under the Account object, before you create the board.

Can I create boards for different teams or use cases?

Yes. Create as many boards as needed, each with its own tabs, columns, and brief configuration. A board for your renewal team might use a renewal date tab and ARR columns.

Why is a field I want missing from the column list?

The field may not be imported into Gong yet. Your tech admin can import it in the Data import tab of your CRM integration page in Admin center, under the Account object. Multi-select picklist and reference fields appear read-only, and only CRM fields can be edited inline.

Why isn't an account showing on my board?

An account needs recent recorded activity (a call, email, or meeting) to appear on a board. A date range, tab filter, or team selection can also hide it.
