Create an on-demand agent

Agents are managed in Assets > Agents. Create an agent to save instructions for a recurring task and reuse them in Gong Assistant.

Create an on-demand agent

Click the dropdown next to + New agent to choose how to create the agent.

Start with the Assistant

Describe the agent you want to Gong Assistant and Gong AI generates the configuration for you to review and refine.

To start with the Assistant:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Assets > Agents.

  2. Click + New agent and select Start with the Assistant.

  3. In the Assistant side panel, describe the agent you want to create, what you want it to do and what it should focus on.

  4. Review the generated agent name, description, and instructions.

  5. (Optional) Ask the Assistant to make any changes.

  6. Type Yes when you are ready to save to the agent.

Create manually

Define the agent name, description, and instructions yourself.

To create an agent manually:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Assets and select Agents.

  2. Click the dropdown next to + New agent and select On-demand agent.

  3. In Agent name, enter a name for the agent.

  4. In Description, enter a description of the agent's purpose.

  5. In Instructions, enter a prompt describing what you want the agent to do. See Write effective prompts for agents for tips on how to write an effective prompt.

  6. (Optional) Click Add files to attach files the agent can use as context when it runs, such as playbooks, guidelines, or templates. Select files from your computer or Google Drive.

    Note:

    Files are attached to the agent and available across all runs. To remove a file, click × on the file in the Files row and save the agent. Supported file types: PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, MD, RTF, ODT, PPTX, PPT, KEY, CSV, and XLSX. You can attach up to 10 files at 20 MB each.

  7. Click Save.

The agent is saved and details are displayed in the Agents page.

Create via a prompt

Create an agent using natural language only.

To create an agent:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Assets, and select Agents.

  2. Click + New agent.

  3. Describe what you want the agent to do.

  4. (Optional) Click + and select Add files to attach files the agent can use as context when it runs, such as playbooks, guidelines, or templates. Select files from your computer or Google Drive. Click × on the file in the Files row to remove the file and save the agent.

    Note:

    Files are attached to the agent and available across all runs. Supported file types: PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, MD, RTF, ODT, PPTX, PPT, KEY, CSV, and XLSX. You can attach up to 10 files at 20 MB each.

  5. Click Save.

The agent is saved and details are displayed in the Agents page.

Create an on-demand agent directly in the Gong Assistant

Convert your prompt into an agent so you can easily run it again.

To create an agent:

  1. Navigate to a Gong page where Gong Assistant is available and filter or select the information you want the agent to analyze

  2. In the Gong Assistant click the agents icon and click + Create.

  3. In Agent name, enter a name for the agent.

  4. In Description, enter a description of the agent's purpose.

  5. In Instructions, enter a prompt describing what you want the agent to do. See Write effective prompts for agents for tips on how to write an effective prompt.

  6. Click Save.

Turn a prompt into an on-demand agent

You can create an agent out of a prompt provided to the Gong Assistant.

To turn a prompt into an agent:

  1. Navigate to a Gong page where Gong Assistant is available and filter or select the information you want the agent to analyze

  2. In the Gong Assistant enter a prompt and click Enter .

  3. Hover over your prompt and click the Create agent icon.

  4. In Agent name, enter a name for the agent.

  5. In Description, enter a description of the agent's purpose.

  6. In Instructions, update the prompt as needed. See Write effective prompts for agents for tips on how to write an effective prompt.

  7. Click Save.
