Agents are reusable prompts you set up once and run in the Gong Assistant. They draw on the context available where you launch them, including calls, accounts, and opportunities, to generate structured output. These examples show four common ways to use them, from quick post-call tasks to more strategic workflows, with sample prompts you can adapt for your own work.
Draft follow-up emails after a call
A follow-up email agent reads the call transcript and produces a draft email based on your instructions. It draws on what was actually said: the topics discussed, the next steps you agreed on, and any commitments made. Depending on how you set it up, your agent can summarize key discussion points, list next steps with owners and dates, suggest a subject line, and tailor the format for different call types like discovery calls, demos, or check-ins.
With this agent, you can:
Save time after every customer call
Capture action items and commitments before they're forgotten
Send faster follow-ups without sacrificing quality
Base the email on what was actually discussed, not just what you remember
Why use it?
Writing follow-up emails is important but time-consuming. Every call ends with work: capturing what was discussed, noting the commitments made, and sending a follow-up before the details fade. An agent produces a ready-to-review draft so you spend your time reviewing and personalizing, not writing from scratch.
Example prompt
"Write a follow-up email based on this call. Summarize what was discussed, list the next steps we agreed on with owners and any dates, and close with a suggested next touchpoint. Keep the tone professional and warm, write in first person, and keep the email under 200 words."
Create executive briefs and call debriefs
A call debrief or executive brief agent takes a completed call and produces a structured summary: who attended, what was discussed, what was decided, and what happens next. Gong includes two pre-built agents for this, Call Follow-Up Composer and Executive Call Brief, which you can run immediately without any setup. You can also create a custom version if your workflow calls for a specific format or level of detail.
With this agent, you can:
Generate a structured call summary with attendees, discussion topics, and outcomes
Capture action items with suggested owners
Produce an executive-level summary for a VP update, QBR, or deal review
Create a consistent record across all your customer calls
Why use it?
Writing up a call after every meeting takes time, and the quality is uneven. An agent generates a consistent summary right after the call ends, so you spend less time on admin and managers can stay on top of deals without watching the recording.
Example prompt
"Summarize this call for an executive audience. Include who attended and their roles, the main topics discussed, any commitments or decisions made by either party, and next steps with suggested owners. Note any risks or blockers that came up. Keep it concise and structured, no more than one page, with clear section headings."
Qualify deals with a MEDDICC agent
A MEDDICC agent goes through the call and shows you what you covered across each part of the framework: what you confirmed, what came up but stayed vague, and what you still need to find out.
With this agent, you can:
Identify which dimensions of the framework were covered and which need follow-up
Generate targeted questions for each gap in your qualification picture
Prepare a deal summary for an internal review or manager sync
Build a consistent qualification record across your deals
Keep your MEDDICC notes current across the deal cycle, not just after individual calls
Why use it?
After a discovery or qualification call, it's easy to feel good about how it went without a clear picture of what you actually learned. A MEDDICC agent shows you exactly where the gaps are so you can go into the next meeting prepared.
Example prompt
"Review this call and analyze it against the MEDDICC framework. For each dimension, summarize what was confirmed in the call, what was mentioned but remained unclear, and what is still unknown. Cover all seven: Metrics, Economic Buyer, Decision Criteria, Decision Process, Identify Pain, Champion, and Competition. For any dimension where information is missing or incomplete, suggest two or three specific follow-up questions to ask in the next meeting."
Plan strategic accounts and build business value stories
An account planning agent pulls together what you know about a customer's priorities, challenges, and goals to help you prepare for important conversations. You can use it to build a value story, get ready for an executive review, or put together a summary before a handoff.
With this agent, you can:
Summarize the customer's stated business priorities and challenges
Draft a value story grounded in what the customer has shared
Outline talking points for an executive business review
Prepare a summary for a team handoff or account transition
Why use it?
Account planning means pulling together information from conversations that happened weeks or months apart. An agent helps you do that quickly, especially when you're getting ready for a renewal, a QBR, or a new deal where knowing the customer's situation matters.
Example prompt
"Summarize what you know about this customer's business priorities. Identify the outcomes they are trying to achieve, the challenges they have mentioned, and any success metrics or timelines they have shared. Then suggest three to five talking points I could use in an upcoming executive business review, focused on business value and impact."
