Who can use this: Tech admin, Business admin
Available on: Gong Foundation, Gong Engage
If your company's Gong data is stored in the EU data center, the Gong Dialer works a little differently from the US data center. The differences apply to specific features, not to general call functionality.
This is not based on where your team members are located. It only applies if your admin has chosen to store your company's Gong data in the EU data center.
Because the Gong Dialer uses Twilio as its telephony provider, and Twilio's EU region (Ireland, IE1) has different capabilities from the US region, some dialer features work differently when running in the EU data center.
Data storage
When your Gong instance is configured in the EU data center, communications data is processed and stored within the EU.
Some Twilio resources remain globally managed and stored in the United States, regardless of your data center setting. These include:
Phone numbers
Regulatory bundles and associated documentation, such as addresses and business number details
Trust Hub documentation
What is supported in the EU data center
Making and receiving calls with business numbers through the Gong Dialer on web and via the mobile app.
Storing and processing call data in line with EU data residency requirements.
Limitations in the EU data center
Twilio's EU region does not support personal phone number verification. As a result, the following are not available when your Gong instance is in the EU data center:
Personal phone number verification for mobile dialer setup.
Outbound calls using personal numbers, on both web and mobile.
Forwarding inbound calls to personal numbers.
Impact by seat type
Engage customers:
Can make and receive calls using business numbers on web and mobile.
Cannot use a personal phone number for outbound calls.
Cannot forward inbound calls to a personal number.
Non-Engage customers (Foundation seat):
Cannot use the Gong mobile dialer, because mobile dialer access for Foundation users requires personal number verification, which is not supported in the EU region.
