Opportunity teams allow collaboration on specific sales deals, enabling multiple members to play a part in closing a sales opportunity.
With Gong deal boards, you can view all the deals a person or team is working on, even if they’re not the primary deal owner. This provides managers enhanced visibility into their team's activities, while allowing individuals to track every deal they've contributed to within their pipeline.
This set-up is commonly used alongside opportunity splits.
Considerations for using opportunity teams in Gong
Make sure that opportunity teams are set up in your CRM. At present we only support Salesforce. If you’re using the standard Salesforce object – Opportunity team, you’ll be able to easily set it up in Gong.
The Salesforce integration user must have access to any opportunity objects, such as opportunity teams, and splits.
How to set up opportunity teams
Company settings > Deals > Pipeline or Forecast
You can set up opportunity teams in either a deal or forecast board:
In a deal board, click Edit board or + Create board.
In your chosen forecast board, click Forecast settings.
In the Basics section, under SHOW DEALS WHERE TEAM MEMBERS ARE, select In the opportunity team. Gong automatically recognizes when opportunity teams are in use.
A column is now added to the board, listing the relevant opportunity team members. We’ll show & roll up any deals where a team member is part of the opportunity team.
