What’s a KPI widget
KPI widgets present critical metrics measured against other metrics or targets, making it easy for team members to assess performance against company benchmarks at a glance.
Building a KPI widget
Note:
This procedure requires permission to manage revenue analytics
To build a KPI widget:
Select your dashboard, click +New widget and select KPI from the gallery.
In the dashboard header, click to rename your widget and, optionally, + Add description.
By default, the widget is set to display a single metric. To display two metrics, click + Add metric. To display a forecast submission number, rather than a metric’s value, click the Metric dropdown and select Forecast submission.
If you chose to display a metric, from the Select metric dropdown, select your metric or click Manage metrics, then create a new metric or edit an existing one, and then pull it to your KPI widget. You can rename it by clicking
and then Rename metric.
If you chose to display a forecast submission, select the forecast board (line of business), the submission category, and whether to include individual submissions or a team rollup.
Individual submissions reflect the latest submission provided by the selected manager or individual seller: When the manager is selected, their submission for the entire team is reflected, and when an individual seller is selected, their personal submission is reflected.
Team rollups reflect the total of the latest submissions of all team members reporting to the selected manager: When the manager is selected, the latest submissions of their direct reports are rolled up and displayed as a single number.
For each metric and forecast submission, check Measure it against a target to track its target attainment (for example, measure booking $ against the booking target).
After selecting the metrics/forecast submissions, you’ll notice two filters are added to the widget, and the team member and date fields are set to be dynamic and respond to whatever is selected in your dashboard. You can change them to fixed values.
Note:
If you select fixed values for the team member and period, the widget would no longer respond to selections made on the dashboard level.
In addition to the two filters, you may add any filter (+Add filter) that defines which deals qualify to be included in the widget. For example, deals in which Sales qualified is true and Deal stage is neither Closed-won nor Closed-lost.
Select your Drilldown view: the deal board that opens up when viewers click to inspect the deals included in the widget. The selected drilldown view inherits the column selection and their order from the selected deal board, as well as the warning configuration, but not the deal board filters.
When you’re happy with the Preview results on the right, click Save.
Ideas for KPI widgets
Here’s a few ideas for KPI widgets to include in your dashboards:
KPI widget | Primary metric | Secondary metric | Target |
---|---|---|---|
Booking attainment | Bookings $ | Bookings target | |
Overall win rate | Win rate ($)(Formula: bookings $ / Closed deals $) | Win rate (#) | |
Pipeline created | Average open deal size | ||
Average open deal size | Average open deal size | ||
Average sales cycle | Avg sales cycle |
Best practices
To make the most out of KPI widgets, we recommend:
Using multiple KPI widgets
To allow viewers compare two periods (for example, the current quarter vs. the previous one), create two KPI widgets based on two periods and place them next to each other in the dashboard.
