Connect your email and check your sender address

Who can use this: Any team member

Available on: Gong Engage

Ideal for: Sales rep, Sales manager

Connect your Gmail or Office 365 mailbox once so you can write and send emails from Engage. If you use more than one address, check which one your emails come from.

Give Gong permission to write emails

Allow Gong to write emails through your mailbox the first time you start an email in Engage.

Note:

To use the Gong email composer, you need an Engage license.

To give Gong permission:

  1. From the left sidebar, click Engagement, and select People.

  2. In the Actions column, click the envelope icon on a person's row. You can also click Write email on a to-do.

  3. When Gong asks for permission, allow all permissions.

Note:

If you allow only some permissions, you can't connect your email provider or write emails through Engage.

Emails you write in Gong send directly from your email client, so:

  • Emails you send appear in the Sent folder of your email client.

  • If a to-do was triggered from an existing email thread, such as an Out of Office reply, your email is added to that thread in your email client.

Reconnect your email account

If your email write permission is disconnected or expires, Gong shows a banner with a link to reconnect your email account. Until you reconnect, you can't send emails from Gong, including the auto emails in your flows.

To reconnect your email account:

  1. Click the link in the banner.

  2. Allow all permissions again.

Check which address your emails send from

Gong can import email and calendar information for a single mailbox. The address listed in My profile is the one connected to your email provider. Gong imports your emails from it, and your emails send from it. Your admin or your provisioning system may have assigned it.

To check which address your emails send from:

  1. In the top toolbar, click your initials, and select My settings.

  2. In the Emails section, check the address you connected.

  3. Compare it with the address listed in My profile. They should match.

We recommend connecting the same address that is listed in My profile. If the address you connect under Emails in My settings is different, your emails send from that address, but Gong doesn't import them.

Note:

Addresses listed under Additional email addresses in My profile identify you on emails, calendar meetings, web conferencing calls, telephony calls and CRM mappings. Gong can't send emails from these addresses or from an email alias.
