Plan: Working with Gong Forecast requires a Forecast seat.

The forecast trend line shows the team forecast for each week in the current forecast period (month or quarter), where the current period is defined as the time frame selected in the Trends report.

We know that sometimes people don’t update their forecast. That’s life, that’s normal. In this article, we’ll explain how this type of “missing” information is treated in the Trends > How's your pipeline trending? chart.

Missing information

"Missing" means that a person has not updated their number or that their number was not carried over, and this information is shown in the tooltip you can see when hovering over a week in the chart.

In the example below, 1 out of 4 team members didn't update their forecast in the selected forecast period:

Note: An updated number will be carried over until the last week of the calendar month OR until another update is made during the same month.

Carried over numbers stop being carried over when a new month begins.

  • For weeks when a number was updated or carried over, the number is included in the trend line and the person is not marked as missing in the tooltip.

  • For weeks when there is no number updated or carried over, there is no number to include in the trend line, and the person is marked as missing in the tooltip.

  • If a person hasn't updated their number at all during the forecast period, they are excluded from the forecast trend line, and are marked as missing for every week in the forecast period.

Quarterly auto-calculation

Quarterly auto-calculation uses the actuals of closed months and the forecast for remaining open months to automatically calculate the quarterly forecast. When enabled in Forecast settings, the team can no longer update their quarterly forecast.

When auto-calculation is turned on, and there is carryover, the carryover is rolled over only within the month the number was updated. This ensures that auto-calculation remains active for open months that have not yet started.
