Who can use this: Any team member

Available on: Gong Engage

Ideal for: Sales rep

A to-do is a single follow-up action tied to a specific contact, account, or deal, such as an email, call, LinkedIn message, or task.

Where to-dos come from

Every to-do has one of three sources.

  • Gong-recommended to-dos: Gong monitors your calls, meetings, emails, and CRM data to recommend follow-up actions. These appear automatically based on what happened in your last interaction with a prospect or customer. Gong also picks up next steps mentioned on the call by you or other attendees, and some to-dos are generated with AI. You can work on them, dismiss them, or let them expire after 7 days.

  • Flow to-dos: When a flow step is due for a contact or lead you are assigned to, a to-do appears. The flow determines what action is required. Flow events, such as a meeting booked, a response, or an email that bounces, also create to-dos.

  • One-off to-dos: You can create a to-do manually for yourself, or assign one to another team member. Use these for reminders and follow-up tasks that are not part of a flow.

  • Accounts: See to-dos linked to a specific account.

  • Person view: See to-dos for an individual contact or lead.

  • Pipeline and deal pages: If you are an opportunity owner, to-dos linked to a deal appear there too.

Notifications

To get a daily list of suggested to-dos by email and Slack, turn on the Suggested to-dos notification ("Send me a daily list of AI-generated to-dos related to my deals"). To open your notification settings, click your profile avatar, and select My notifications. The daily list includes Gong-recommended to-dos and flow outcome and flow error to-dos. It does not include one-off to-dos or flow step to-dos.

  • Email: Sent once a day, at 4 PM by default. You can change the time in My notifications.

  • Slack: Sent once a day, at 4 PM by default. Your admin must set up the Slack integration and enable Engage Slack notifications at the company level. If your admin turns Slack notifications off for your company, you do not receive them, whatever your personal setting. You can change the time or opt out in My notifications.

Frequently asked questions

Why am I not seeing Gong-recommended to-dos?

Gong-recommended to-dos require a CRM integration and emails imported to Gong. If you have both and still are not seeing them, contact your admin.

Why did a call not trigger a to-do?

Calls shorter than 10 minutes, or calls with only participants from your company, do not trigger a Gong-recommended meeting follow-up to-do.

What happens to a to-do when a contact is deleted in the CRM?

When a contact or lead is deleted in the CRM, their flow is stopped and any associated flow to-dos are deleted. One-off to-dos created manually are not deleted.

Which to-dos are supported in languages other than English?

Meeting follow-up, meeting confirmation, intro, and no-next-meeting to-dos are fully supported in other languages. Nudge, response, and back from OOO to-dos are partially supported. AI-generated follow-up emails are generated in the same language as the call.
