Import Salesforce fields to see your CRM data together with your Gong activities. Multi-select, address, location, and encrypted fields cannot be imported. Simple reference fields may be imported (for example, AccountId in Contact), and are automatically selected. Complex references that point to data tables are ignored.

Some Salesforce fields may have slightly different names when they are shown in the Deals board.

Once you're set up, you can:

  • Search for calls that match your Salesforce attributes in the Search page

  • View deals information in the Accounts page

  • See the fields as part of the ranking criteria in Whisper for Topics

  • Drill down to monitor changes in the account timeline (for Opportunity fields set to track changes)

Note

Make sure that the user that connects to Salesforce has access to all fields you want to import.

  1. Go to Company settings > CRM > Salesforce.

  2. In the Import from Salesforce area, click Manage Salesforce fields.

The list of fields you can import from Salesforce are organized by Contact, Account, Opportunity, and Lead. If the field resides under an opportunity, account, lead, or contact, then after being imported into Gong, the field will appear in the filter on the Search page under the CRM.

    Tip

Use the search to find fields within each object.

  3. For each object, select the fields that you want to make available to use in Gong (e.g. filter calls or view in deals).

  4. To create a variable from a CRM field, select Create variable next to the field. This enables you to create variables from CRM fields that are imported to Gong in addition to the built-in variables that Gong provides. These variables are then be available for use when creating email templates.

  5. To track the change of a field's value, select Track changes next to the field. Track changes enables you to monitor when and what changes to your Salesforce fields happen as your deal progresses.

Changes are shown in the account timeline and account page.

    Note

This step requires that you have set up field history tracking in Salesforce. If you haven't set it up yet, refer to the Salesforce Help articles Field History Tracking and Track Field History for Custom Objects. For formula fields, refer to the Unable to track Field History of Formula Fields article. Ensure that you select Set history tracking and then select Track old and new values for each field.

  6. Select the field you want to use as the deal amount. This field type must be currency.
