After a recorded call, Gong can generate a draft follow-up email using the call transcript. Review and edit the draft before sending, or open it in the email composer if your company uses Gong Engage.
Generate a follow-up email
Gong generates the email in the same language as the call. You choose the summary style to match your intended tone and level of detail.
To generate a follow-up email after a call:
Open the call page.
Click Generate follow-up email at the top right of the call page.
Note: You can also generate a follow-up email from a call in your home page or search results by clicking the call actions menu.
Review the generated draft and edit it as needed.
(Optional) For calls in a language other than English, click Regenerate to regenerate the draft in English.
Copy and paste the content into your preferred email client. If you're using Gong Engage, the generated email opens in the email composer.
Note:
If your company uses Gong Engage, you may see an Insert content option in the email composer. Select Insert content, then choose a template enabled for call follow-up emails. You can also select Only show templates enabled for follow-up emails to filter the list. Sending from Gong requires an Engage license and a connected email account with the necessary permissions.
Frequently asked questions
Why are some recipients missing from the generated draft?
The draft only includes invitees whose email addresses appear in the meeting metadata. Participants who joined without an associated email address may not appear. Add them manually before sending.
Does the follow-up email include a recording link?
Only if your company's sharing settings allow external call sharing. If external sharing is not enabled, the recording link will not appear in the generated draft. To include a link, share the call using Share with customers on the call page, then regenerate the email.
Can I generate the email in a different language?
Gong generates the draft in the language of the call by default. For a non-English call, click Generate follow-up email to regenerate the draft in English after the initial draft appears.
What should I do if generating a follow-up email fails?
Try generating the follow-up email again from the same call. If generation continues to fail, verify that the call has a transcript and that the call language is set correctly in the Call Info panel.
