When making changes to the activity association settings, or if an activity does not have accurate associations, you may want to understand the logic behind the current associations or how different settings would affect current activities.

The association simulator lets you:

  • See how current activities would be associated when new settings are applied

  • Assess a specific activity to understand the association logic

To run the association simulator:

  1. Click Open simulator in the Association simulator pane.

In Simulate association for:

  2. Select Multiple activities and fill in the filters to see the association logic for multiple existing activities.

    Note:

The association simulator shows the differences in associations for existing activities if you change your association settings. However, the changes will only affect new activities.

    1. In Show results for, select the activities you want to see associations for:

      • All activities

      • Activities with accounts

      • Activities manually associated

      • Activities without contacts

      • Activities without contacts, with accounts

      • Activities without deals, with accounts

    2. In Activity type, select whether you want to see calls or emails.

Analyzing the results

If you run the association simulator before making changes to the activity association settings, the results show the current associations, with details of how many accounts, contacts and deals the activity is associated with.

Associations for each activity are displayed as follows:

: number of accounts activity is associated with

: number of deals activity is associated with

: number of contacts activity is associated with

Click on each activity to see full details of the association including the account and deal IDs the activities are associated with.

Once you have made changes to the settings, refresh the simulator results to see how these activities would have been associated with CRM entities.

Changes in the association are displayed with the original association on the left followed by the new association if the change is made. In this example, changing the account owner to On: Mandatory would remove the accounts associated with all the calls listed.

Click on the activity to see details of the original and new associations. In this view you will see all changes, including, new associations and removed associations.

Based on this simulator you can assess whether to make changes to your association settings, whether new settings will improve Gong’s accuracy when associating your activities to CRM entities.
