Importing formula fields

Article summary

Formula fields can be imported from Salesforce, however the value of the field is only updated in certain scenarios and therefore, in some cases there may be a difference between the value in Salesforce and the value in Gong.

Scenarios where formula fields are updated

Values of formula fields are updated in Gong when the formula field includes:

  • references to a field in the same object: when a formula field uses the value from a field in the same object, both fields are reimported to Gong when the the value in the field is changed.

  • changes to content in the formula field: if the formula is changed in Salesforce, Gong imports the new value, for example if the formula is changed from 100*amount to 200*amount.

  • currency conversion: we recommend setting up Gong to support multiple currencies. For more details see, Enabling multiple currencies.

Scenarios where formula fields aren't updated

Values of formula fields aren't updated in Gong when the formula includes:

  • references to a field in another CRM object: Gong does not reimport the value of a formula field that references a field in another CRM object when that field is changed. For example, a field in the deal representing the deal's industry gets its value from the industry type object. If the field in the industry type is changed from finance to finance & banking, that change is not reflected in Gong.

  • date formulas: fields which are based on date calculations are not updated each time the value changes in Salesforce. For example, the deal age is calculated according to the number of days that have passed since the deal was created. The value in Salesforce changes daily. However, the value in Gong is only updated if the entire record is updated.
