# What’s needed to connect to Microsoft Outlook

> **Who can use this**: Tech admin

> **Available on**: Any Gong plan

To successfully import calendar meetings and emails, you must:

- Set up either a company wide connection, or a user-by-user connection
- Set the data you want to give Gong access to:
  - calendar meetings and emails
  - calendar meetings only
- Set which data will be imported to Gong
- Set the team member’s data capture settings

## **Permissions required by Gong**

Gong requires the following access for the following MS Graph API permission scopes:

| Permissions |  |
| --- | --- |
| Mail.Read | Required for importing Office 365 emails. Used when import emails is enabled. |
| Calendars.Read Calendars.Read.Shared | Required for importing Office 365 calendars and calendar events. Used when calendar import is enabled. |
| User.Read.All User.Read | Required for retrieving Office 365 user IDs to use in user-specific API calls when importing emails, calendars, and photos. |
| Group.Read.All | Required for retrieving Office 365 group information for troubleshooting only. |
| OpenID Connect: openid | Required for user-by-user connections, so that Gong can view user profile data |
| OpenID Connect: email | Required for user-by-user connections, so that Gong can read the user’s primary email address |
| OpenID Connect: profile | Required for user-by-user connections, so that Gong can see user’s basic profile such as name, picture, user name, email address |
| OpenID Connect: offline_access | Required for user-by-user connections. Enables Gong to view and update the data you’ve granted access to, even when you’re not actively using Office 365. This does not provide any additional permissions. |
