# Using notes

> **Who can use this**: Any team member
>
> **Available on**: Gong Engage
>
> **Ideal for**: Sales rep, Sales manager

Throughout Engage, you can use notes to keep track of important information that will help you save time and stay organized. Notes also make it easy to collaborate with your team.

You can create and view notes about a specific account or a specific person, either from accounts, contacts, leads, or while on a dialer call. You do not need to be the owner of an account, deal, contact or lead to add a note to that object.

Exporting notes to your CRM can be enabled by your admin. When enabled, every note written in Engage is attributed to the standard Note object and the contact/lead/account-associated notes in the CRM.

## Where to write and access notes in Engage

### Account notes

**Write notes about an account:**

- From **Engage >****Accounts**: at the top right, click **+ New**> **Note**
- From **Account Console:**Deals > Accounts > Select an account > Notes > +New note

**Access notes about an account:**

- From **Engage >****Accounts**: each account has a **Notes** tab, where you can see all the notes related to this account left by you or your teammates
- From **Account Console:**Deals > Accounts > Select an account > Notes
- While writing an email in the [email composer](/v1/docs/manage-your-emails-from-gong)
- While making a call in the [dialer](/v1/docs/make-calls-with-gong)

### Contact or lead notes

**Write notes about a contact or lead:**

- From anywhere in Engage: click on someone's name to open person view. Open the **Notes** tab and click **+ Add note**

**Access notes about a contact or lead:**

- From anywhere in Engage: click on someone's name to open person view, where you can see any notes you and your teammates have left that are related to this person
- While writing an email in the [email composer](/v1/docs/manage-your-emails-from-gong)
- While making a call in the [dialer](/v1/docs/make-calls-with-gong)

### Call notes

**Write call notes:**

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> If you’re using an external dialer, call notes are not supported.

- While making a call in the Gong [dialer](/v1/docs/make-calls-with-gong), you can log notes alongside call outcomes. This can be especially helpful for calls that aren’t recorded, so you and your team members will have relevant context while reviewing the call. You can control who has viewing access to the note and @mention other team members.

**Access call notes:**

- From anywhere in Engage: click on someone's name to open person view. From the **Activity** tab, you can see calls with that person and any attached notes
- In the activity timeline
- On a call page

## Navigate to the relevant call directly from a note

If a note was taken in the context of a call, a purple call label will automatically get added to the note. If you want to review that call, click on the label and the call opens in a new tab.

Any team member with access to the account can see your notes, but not edit them. Only the creator of a note can edit or delete it. Admins can't edit or delete another person's notes.
