# Upgrade Gong for Salesforce

This section explains how to upgrade to the latest version of Gong for Salesforce. See [Upgrade instructions for specific versions](/v1/docs/upgrade-gong-for-salesforce#upgrade-instructions-for-specific-versions) to get a list of changes you need to do to upgrade to a specific version.

## **Prerequisite**

- If you are upgrading from version 2.22 or earlier, you must first install this patch from the following link: [https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04t1Q000000lqz3](https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04t1Q000000lqz3)

**To upgrade Gong for Salesforce:**

1. Check if a new version of the Gong for Salesforce app is available: Click **Admin center** > **Settings**tab > **CRM** > **Salesforce** to open the Salesforce integration settings page.

or

Go to **Gong.io** on the [Salesforce AppExchange Listing](https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3A00000FeGgcUAF) and click **Get it Now**.
2. Click **Log In**.
3. Complete your **AppExchange login** and select whether to install the package into a **Production** or **Sandbox** environment.

6. The upgrade process starts. Click **Done** when the upgrade is complete

> Note
> 
> - The upgrade can take a while if the Salesforce servers are busy. In this case, an email will be sent to you when the installation is complete.
> - Reports and dashboards are not overwritten when upgrading to a later version. If you delete a report or dashboard before upgrade, they aren't recreated during upgrade.

## Upgrade instructions for specific versions

When upgrading, make sure you follow the instructions for each specific upgrade, even if you aren't upgrading to that specific version. For example, if you are upgrading from version 2.20 to 2.28, complete the instructions for version 2.22 as well as 2.28.

****Upgrading to version 2.28****

The conversation object now includes the call briefing and call highlights. Once the upgrade is complete, add the fields to the Conversation page layout in Salesforce.

****Upgrading from version 2.23 or higher****

To upgrade the Gong for Salesforce app from version 2.23 or higher, download the latest version of the app [here](https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3A00000FeGgcUAF).

****Upgrading from version 2.22 or earlier****

If your current Gong for Salesforce version is 2.22 or earlier do the following:

1. Upgrade to [version 2.22.1](https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04t1Q000000lqz3)
2. [Download](https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3A00000FeGgcUAF) the latest version of the app.
3. Once the upgrade is complete, [display scorecards](/v1/docs/post-upgrade-configurations-for-gong-for-salesforce) in the conversation object.
4. Enable the [Deals Canvas App](/v1/docs/post-installation-configurations) to be able to view the Gong Account page in Salesforce.

****Upgrading from version 1.22 or earlier****

For versions 1.22 or earlier, [uninstall Gong for Salesforce](/v1/docs/uninstall-gong-for-salesforce), and then [install the app again](/v1/docs/install-gong-for-salesforce).

Note that you don't need to uninstall and reinstall Gong for Salesforce when updating a later version, although we recommend deleting dashboards and reports to avoid confusion with the new ones (see the following section).
