# Set sign in method

Choose how people at your organization sign in to Gong. The method you chose affects when your team members are automatically logged out. Some authentication methods require setup in the provider before completing the setup in Gong. Refer to the relevant authentication method guides linked to below.

**To set a sign in method:**

1. From the left sidebar, click **Admin center**.
2. In the **Settings** tab, click **Authentication**, under **Company.**
3. In the **Authentication** page, in the **Authentication methods** area, choose any combination of the following methods:
  - **Email address & password**: Manage username and passwords in Gong to allow people to sign in using Gong credentials. Team members are automatically logged out after two weeks.
  - **Common identity providers**: Team members are automatically logged out from between 10 hours to 90 days, depending on the policy you set in your provider.
    - **Google**
    - **Microsoft**
    - **Salesforce**: Install the [Client external app](https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04t7y0000017wbNAAQ) to enable signing in with Salesforce credentials.
  - **Additional authentication providers**: Team members are logged out after 30 minutes of non-activity by default. For SAML SSO providers, the session logout time can be customized. For information about specific providers, see:

4. Click **Update**.

## Frequently asked questions

****What is the account lockout threshold?****

Users who have five failed login attempts are locked out of their accounts for 60 minutes.

****Why do I need to install an app to login with Salesforce credentials?****

Salesforce requires all connected apps comply with certain [security requirements](https://partners.salesforce.com/pdx/s/pcnews/mandatory-security-updates-for-connected-apps-and-ecas-MCFBLDLDQ2TVDZFA22GLAMBVEZGY?language=en_US) in order to enable login with Salesforce credentials. Gong’s [Client external app](https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04t7y0000017wbNAAQ) must be installed by a Salesforce administrator.
