Describe the context in your own words, or set filters to control exactly which conversations Gong Assistant analyzes. Each response is tied to the context provided when you asked the question. When you change the context, new questions use the updated one, and earlier responses stay tied to their previous results. This lets you compare different sets of information without losing earlier analyses. ## Describe the context in your own words Start by describing the context in your own words. If you can't, add filters. **To ask a question:** 1. Open Gong Assistant from any starting point. Learn more about [Where you can use Gong Assistant](/v1/docs/choose-a-starting-point-for-gong-assistant). 2. In the prompt box, type your question. **Tip:** Use the guidelines below to describe the context. 3. Click the **Arrow** icon to send your message. ### Mentioning timeframes Include a relative or absolute timeframe, for example: - "Summarize my conversations in the last 30 days" - "List open deals in Q1, FY2025" - "List closed-lost deals during the last 90 days" ### Specifying people or accounts Ask about specific people or accounts, for example: - "List my calls last week" - "List Alex Johnson's calls last week" - "List calls with external participants yesterday" - "Summarize my conversations with Acme last month" - "What concerns have been raised on the Acme account last month?" > [!NOTE] > **Note:** > > Gong Assistant matches people and account names to the ones in your CRM, and the matching is case sensitive. ### Including deals and deal attributes Mention deals or a deal status, for example: - "Summarize risks in the current Acme deal" - "Summarize open deals for Acme this quarter" - "List closed-won deals this quarter" - "Are there open deals worth more than $50,000?" ## Set filters Set filters when you need more precise results. You can set filters on the Search page, or on the Gong Assistant page when you add Calls as context. **To set filters before you ask:** 1. Choose where to set the filters: - **Search:** From the left sidebar, click **Conversations**, and select **Search**. - **Gong Assistant page:** From the left sidebar, click **Assistant**. In the prompt box, click the **Add context** icon (+), and select **Calls**. Learn more about [Where you can use Gong Assistant](/v1/docs/choose-a-starting-point-for-gong-assistant) and [Add calls, folders, and streams to Gong Assistant](/v1/docs/work-with-gong-assistant). 2. Apply the filters that define the conversations you want. On the Gong Assistant page, click **Save** in the **Filter editor** window. 3. If you started on Search, click **Assistant**. 4. In the prompt box, type your question. 5. Click the **Arrow** icon to send your message. ### Use either/or conditions Questions in your own words combine conditions with "and" logic: Gong Assistant looks for conversations that match all the conditions you include. Use filters when you want Gong Assistant to focus on conversations that match one condition or another. For example: - Acme or another account - Deals owned by Alex Johnson or Taylor Smith - Technology or Financial Services companies ### Exclude conversations Leave out the conversations you don't want Gong Assistant to analyze. For example: - All calls except Acme - Open deals excluding renewals - Calls that do not mention a competitor ### Filter by CRM data Use filters to narrow the context by Industry, Territory, Region, or any other CRM field. For example, instead of asking "Which Technology companies did I speak with in the last three months?", filter to the Technology industry first, and then ask your question. ### Filter by words and phrases Set filters directly to find conversations that mention a competitor, a specific product, or a keyword or phrase. On Search, use filters such as **Words or phrases**. ## Combine filters and natural language Let filters define the context, and then ask your question in your own words. **To combine filters and natural language:** 1. From the left sidebar, click **Conversations**, and select **Search**. Learn more about [Where you can use Gong Assistant](/v1/docs/choose-a-starting-point-for-gong-assistant). 2. Filter to Technology companies and the last 90 days. 3. Click **Assistant**. 4. In the prompt box, type "What concerns are customers raising about implementation?" 5. Click the **Arrow** icon to send your message. Any team member can access this feature if they have the required permissions.
