# Record and drop voicemail messages

> **Who can use this**: Any team member
>
> **Available on**: Gong Engage
>
> **Ideal for**: Sales rep, Sales manager

Voicemail Drop lets you record voicemail messages in advance and leave them when a call reaches voicemail. Instead of repeating the same message, you can select a saved voicemail message to send after the voicemail tone or beep.

## Record a voicemail message

Record voicemail messages in the **My settings** page. Each recording is saved to your personal list and can be selected when leaving a voicemail during a call.

**To record a voicemail message:**

1. In the top toolbar, click the quick access settings (your initials) icon and select **My settings**.
2. Under **Gong Connect**, click **Manage your voicemails**.
3. Click **+ Record new voicemail**.
4. Enter a name for the voicemail message and click **Record a voicemail**.
5. Once you’ve finished recording, click **Play** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/2837c190-3ec8-4120-9116-6d427e774667/Images/Documentation/Play(1).svg) to review the recording.
6. Click **Save** if you are happy with the voicemail, or **Delete** ![remove.svg](https://cdn.us.document360.io/2837c190-3ec8-4120-9116-6d427e774667/Images/Documentation/remove.svg) to start again.

The voicemail message is added to your list of saved recordings.

## Manage voicemail messages

You can update, remove, or reorganize saved voicemail messages from **Manage Voicemail Recordings**.

**To manage a voicemail message:**

1. In the top toolbar, click the quick access settings (your initials) icon and select **My settings**.
2. Under **Gong Connect**, click **Manage your voicemails**.
3. Choose what you want to do:
  - **Edit a voicemail message:** Click **Edit** ![Vector (2).svg](https://cdn.us.document360.io/2837c190-3ec8-4120-9116-6d427e774667/Images/Documentation/Vector%20(2).svg), to update the recording, and save your changes.
  - **Delete a voicemail message:** Click **Delete** ![remove.svg](https://cdn.us.document360.io/2837c190-3ec8-4120-9116-6d427e774667/Images/Documentation/remove.svg) to remove the recording.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** The order of voicemail messages determines the order in which they appear when selecting a voicemail message during a call.

## Drop a voicemail message during a call

When a call reaches voicemail, you can leave a saved voicemail message instead of recording the message live.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** Wait until you hear the voicemail tone or beep before dropping a voicemail message.

**To drop a voicemail message:**

1. Place a call using the [Gong Dialer](/v1/docs/make-calls-with-gong).
2. If there’s no answer, wait for the voicemail tone or beep.
3. Select **Voicemail drop** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/2837c190-3ec8-4120-9116-6d427e774667/Images/Documentation/✅ Button.svg) icon to see the list of recorded voicemail messages.
4. Select the voicemail message you want to leave.

The selected voicemail message is played to the recipient's voicemail.

## How does Voicemail Drop work for recipients?

Recipients receive the voicemail message as a standard voicemail. No additional action is required from the recipient, and the voicemail can be played back like any other voicemail message.
